How Avatar 2 is Still in The Abyss

When The Abyss Cannot Be Reached

James Cameron worked on his first movie Avatar, right after he was done with Titanic. The original 80 pages script laid out roughly the original plotting, but he wasn't happy with the Technology of that time (1997) His fascination with water and his passion for Scuba diving challenged his directing skills. Avatar had to wait over nine years to be feasible and meet certain critical quality issues. James thought that the technology for underwater filming that could appeal to his audience was still in diapers. By the time he filmed 'The Abyss,' he thought of a different approaching to filming and co-developed the digital 3D Fusion Camera System. Described by a biographer as part-scientist and part-artist. Titanic spectacular scenes were filmed in a location down in Mexico, Rosarito, Baja California Norte to be correct, and it challenged again his scripting non stop imagination. The scenes from Titanic, the sunk ship, took our breath away from the very beginning.

What's happening for now...?

Cameron is devising more of not so conventional narrative to go with the cutting-edge visuals and truly epic action in his Avatar sequels. An enriched language will take us where Jim Cameron always wanted to. Moviegoers will have much more reasons to take a trip to that particular cinematic landscape. We can imagine a delightful underwater view that will make us sense and feel that 3-D imagery. He will not back off the throttle of Avatar's visual and emotional horsepower.

Best movies ever made by James Cameron

  1. The Terminator, 1984
  2. Rambo: First Blood, part II, 1985
  3. Aliens, 1986
  4. The Abyss, 1989
  5. Terminator 2: Judgement day, 1991
  6. True Lies, 1994
  7. Titanic, 1997
  8. Avatar, 2009

THE MARIANA TRENCH?

The deepest location or point under the sea level-- in the world, is near the Mariana Islands. which can be a headache and a challenge for all the visuals and mindblowing imagination. The 'Challenger trench' to be accurate, could witness historical footage for this sequel. Just imagine that at about 7 miles under the sea level, every square inch would have to support 9 tons. of sheer pressure. The most sophisticated Submarine from the Soviet Union can just stand 1.6 tons of unimaginable pounding pressure, adding temperature dropping and health problems.

TECHNICAL ISSUES

Filming 'The Abyss' Inside this Nuclear plant back in 1989 and the aquatic scenes were close to documentaries, but after 'Avatar' James knew that the audience was waiting for his technical breakthroughs, and he learned to deliver in this industry by feeding us bits of information to keep the momentum. The first issue will have to overcome the moving of his Panavision Cameras under that kind of pressure. By January of 2012, Sam Worthington, has been honest with James, and was pretty much concern about filming, for the first time, 7 miles under the sea level. Another problem is the quality of digital framing, that will have to double those 24 fps.

WHY JAMES CAMERON IS A PERFECTIONIST?

Because he was born with this special talent, and his 'Clan Cameron' past, that never gave up on any enterprise through history. Since he filmed his first short movie, called, 'Xenogenesis' back in 1978, he's been always challenging himself. His first creation (a fiasco that won him a job into the industry) was a far cry from Avatar. James Cameron improved all his special effects skills, through self study and sheer deep imagination. There were reasons to think that, at first Cameron was considered a foreigner to the Industry. Being born In Canada, put an stigma on his life...which, believe it or not, made him stronger! Certainly He is the King!!

AVATAR 3

Will be filmed back to back with the second part, using CG scenes that literally were deleted from the first part...This time the final story that close the trilogy, will expand throughout the Alpha Centauri AB system. And gradually will move out across the system, and incorporate a richer and fresher plotting into the final story.

UPDATE: James Cameron is not taking any chance to film around December 21, 2012. The loss would practically ruin both sequels.

Great article and very informative. My husband and I watched Avatar and though we are in our sixties, I have to say we were as delighted as any child with a new toy. The techniques were just incredible, the colors and characters so intriguing and the plot was simple enough but had all of the ingredients to keep us interested.

I look forward to another episode or two!

Another Avator 2 would be awesome. I was actually away on an island when the Avator was initially released in theatres. I had to watch it at home. It definitely deserves the big screen, big sound, visual experience. I am definitely not missing out on this movie. This was just too good.

Its interesting how James Cameron had to compete with his spouse for oscars during the same time for Hurt Locker. That was another good movie. This movie, however, was unlike anything we have seen before.

I appreciate filmmakers who are willing to push the boundaries of what is possible in terms of technology and innovation. This was a milestone movie. One of my favourites. Thanks for the heads up on Avator 2. This is definitely on my must watch list. Thanks.

Hi there PoohGranma,

Yeah! these movies have set the trend in special efects and 3-D releases. Filming under so much pressure would require new technology for the safety of the crew and actors. I wouldn't want to be down there though.

Good to see you JeyaraMD,

This sequel won't be like any other. Seems that Cameron wants to avoid the area arund December. The depth, the pressure and the Mayan Omen, could disrupt and cause loses beyond imagination. We look forward to seeing on the big Screen...and Posibly on 4-D by then.

Cool! I loved the first movie, so hearing about a second one is awesome. I especially like how Cameron cares so much. It sounds like the second one might be as good as or even exceed the first one in quality. Yes! Voted up.

Hi there CClitgirl,

The second one is heading into the 4-D feature filming which will shake the whole industry. Is like taking the Color TV to the early 1900's We cannot wait!

Hi there Jenny,

We are as happy as you. We have been watching this development since 2010. Just check the interview. James is a professional and he'd rather wait 2 more years for a better delivery. Seems that he is the The Steve Jobs of the Filming industry.

Thank you. I love Avatar. I watch it everytime it repeats on tv. I knew it would be years before the second one, but is really a long time to wait. Really neat hub!

Hi Lord, leave it to you...this is brilliant and informative.

I fell in love with the original Avatar and saw it in 3d, IMAX, and regular movie theater. I can't wait for this one to come out---had no idea it's going to take this long.

Great and informative hub - voted up

Hi Bridalletter, Avatar 2 is already being shot down the Marianas. The media is being kept away by keeping a low profile. Hopefully green peace won't get their nose down there. Thanks for leaving such an important comment!

Hi John, James Cameron is used to take 7 yeras between movies and he owes it to his fans. Titanic was expensive but paid off. He loves life under water... so the next installments will go down to unknown scenes from the pit of hell, literally. Hey! Great to see you John!
