Beauty in the Eye of the Beholder, and True Beauty Within

Beauty Defines, Changes and Produces Change.

Each of us perceives 'beauty' from an individualized yet culturally defined social gaze. Even from the same social dynamic era, persons have vastly differing opinions, perceptions if you will, of what they consider 'beauty'.

Life seasons also change our personal opinions and acceptances of what constitutes beauty, true loveliness. That changing is an invisible, fog drifting sail-on-the-sea, until by hindsight or an unexpected stun-episode it blasts us in our interior mirror, and we realize that again... things -we- have changed.

Hopefully these changes are better steps to mature self-generation that we all desire, for the enjoyment of true beauty beheld is a joyful part of living that we all need. Through the perception of interaction with and by beautiful 'entities' in our lives, we become more understanding and confident creatures of peace and productive good in ourself and others.

Here are a few samples of beauty.

Whatever you think of her politics or personality, you just have to admit it...Sarah is gorgeous!

A relative pictured above looks a lot like Sarah Palin. So?

This relative is a couple of months older than Sarah Palin, is blonde rather than brunette, wore the same kind of glasses before Sarah became 'famous', and is as nice as Sarah seems to be. My relative, let's call her Angie, is not a barracuda nor a soccer mom, and the popular political picture of pigs with lipstick just cracks her up!

She wouldn't know how to shoot a moose dead and probably wouldn't really want to eat it after it was dressed. She wouldn't know how to perform that 'dressing' procedure either! In fact, Angie would most likely tactfully make an excuse to babysit, dogsit, fix lunch, fix sandwiches for tomorrow or even go reset the clock for grandma, before she would be around for the moose 'dressing'.

But now, give her a bag of fresh McDonald's frys and she will come alive! Might even eat the mooseburger with it. Plenty of pepper needed though! Hmmm...she gets her little round paper holder thingy and fills it with ketchup then loads about 5 packs of black pepper into it, Stirs it up with the french fries and maybe adds more pepper as it gets used up. Pepper does help your digestion yaknow, after all. And mooseburger certainly needs good digestion. Gotta have good guts to have good digestion, right? So Sarah and Angie have guts. Good guts!

And beauty is only skin deep. Or rather, real beauty is way beneath the skin! And not always noted at first glance. Shall I speak of Susan Boyle now? Her too...I'll bet she knows this story.

Why would you ever want to paint up a pig?

People are individualized batches of cells, yet so much of the same basic activity convolutes in the background of every self.

Eat, sleep, work, drive, rest, cook, clean something, listen, talk, laugh, feel sad or lonely and get irritated. Play, fuss, look for food or work or friends or chemtrails. Suggest, deny, try, quit trying so hard, mess around, clean it up. All these activities are found in each batch of cellular individualism we call self, and culture or age or physical limitations do not erase these activities and performance within whatever boundaries each one exists.

So how do these individualized batches of kinetic cellular activity come to such form that one batch may more match someone who has not been near? Someone who has had no previous touch on the progression or activity of the other who appears on the surface, quite similar, someone who recognizes your kind of beauty.

In speaking of human interaction above, we should be reminded that all life, yes pigs and moose too, have that same type of interaction but expressed within its own specific subclass of this vast animal kingdom. That is to say, that pigs don't cook, but they look for food, eat, are filled (hopefully), they cool themselves with water or mud if possible, they relate in defiance or acceptance of other pigs and animals, or submit to other pig activities. They learn to root and snuffle contendedly while so doing. Regretfully, the big business pig farms prevent these natural activities, but that is a money/business/unhealthy situation of our 'civilized' world. Some lucky pigs learn to come running when their 'boss' calls "Sooey, sooey!". But beautiful soul-mates? I think not, but I can't say not! Perhaps the pig could tell that secret if given a chance?

Life holds many puzzles and some we just cannot correctly perceive! Nevertheless, if we are so lucky as to have found a true soul-mate, we should disallow any personal restrictions upon other peoples or animals to experience that profound equivalent! That permissive does not exceed absolute moral values, for we all answer to 'I AM' however we may seek to justify otherwise. Perhaps even, the plants and sunshine, or trees and rain could be identified as that soul-mate to one another? But that gets confusing in the broad spectrum.

All made up and waiting to go. Looking for a soul-mate, or defying the slaughterhouse?

So do you have a beautiful match-mate too? Sure?

Have you ever met someone whom you called a 'soul-mate'? Not necessarily in gender idiom , but a complete stranger whom you soon recognized as someone special and 'apart from the crowd'. Someone who knew what you were going to say before you said it - perhaps even finished your thought before you expressed it. Rather like some identical twins, but a relationship recognized as a specific completion or adjunct to your way of thinking, expressing, needing, withdrawing, reacting. A beautiful natural interaction?

And that perception would be reversed into the energy action of the soul-mate, with them recognizing the same fulfilling traits within you that interacted between the two of you so far above any other familarity. It is that something that few really discover, when two people in genuine honesty and without pretense can communicate on a new and intimate level of brainwave connection, each finding surprised fulfillment that exists as a standard of interaction between their 'batches of cells'.

Perhaps the discovery of soul-mateness results eventually in a long term friendship, a quality relationship whether separated by distance or not. Perhaps it procedes into a marriage. Possibly it ends with darkness, after some length of time, whether it be death or other dramatic changes. But, you never forget if you have experienced that type of 'understanding communication'. You know the fulfillment of recognition as unusually similar souls.

As soul-mates and true inner beauty are experienced, they both announce to other souls that what seems impossible, may be possible! Both are amazing and awsome to the beholder!

A fish barracuda.
A fish barracuda.

So what does that have to do with the price of eggs in China? Or Albuquerque?

When Sarah Palin was chosen as vice-president running mate to John McCain, the world lit up! Literally, from where I watched the news. She was a stunning shocker, a skilled public persona without so much political glib stammering as usually seen. She was a match for Barack Obama's polished speech and handsome appearance. When she was publicly harrassed and mocked, she faced it directly. When she stumbled on an evening television show it was because of purposed slanting obfuscation by her interviewer. Yet she remained an honest and dedicated person to the campaign for her country. She answered intended barbs about her expectant daughter with tact and straighforward responses. No, she did not have the political padding surrounding many others, but she was fresh, direct, and knew what she wanted to do. I didn't expect her to win the political race, but I congratulate her on staying true to what she stood for, both as a politician and a mother! Courage and perseverence are part of an honest basis for inner beauty, genuine interaction with others. I think Sarah had that.  And Angie, too.

Angie has some of those same steadfast qualities, though as I said, she is not a barracuda nor a moose hunter, nor a mother. She doesn't like public speaking nor political bickering, nor messiness or finiggling. She is a peacemaker, a fun giver, and would never paint a pig's lips. Well, if she did, she would also wipe off the lipstick for the poor little piggy!

A rose...its velvet petals...the lovely fragrance. Stop a moment and share!

You are the Beholder. You are the holder of Beauty!

Each of us comes into life as a singular creature, a creation of which there has been none alike previously, and we retain all rights to ourselves after we are removed from the scene.

It is our often difficult responsibility to overcome the distresses and damages caused in our formative times - which actually do continue over a lifetime - to be able to not only see true beauty but strive to have beauty! Thus we are the beholder of beauty, the willing recipient of such beauty as we desire through the kinetic activity of I AM in every life situation.

Indeed our choices are either for or against exuding and extracting beauty from our circumstance, whatever boundaries we must work inside. What we feel and know about ourselves reflects in what we do, and what we perform reflects in the eyes and hearts of those surrounding us. Remember, it is always 'vice versa'!

Only a genuine Beholder may see and understand the depth of true beauty and reflect that loveliness, even while producing from 'his' own inner core. The world can always use more beauty of the uncommon kind!  Pass on the good you find and wrap the negatives in disciplined boundaries. Choose to find and enjoy the lovely, and envelope each undesirable with the strands of understanding, maturity and restrictive control. As it has been spoken by someone other than me, "Pay it forward"!

This is such a beautiful hub, the words and pictures are absolutely amazing. You are right, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I loved your wording regarding each of us coming into life as a singular creature and retaining those rights as we depart from the scene. Yes...everyone is truly unique and we continue on that path all of our lives. So much beauty to be seen and appreciated...and we all look at it differently.

Very thought provoking hub packed with many nice photos.

Dear sweet ladies!  You both write so very well, and took your time to read and comment on this particular hub.  Thank you each for that - you've proven yourselves AGAIN to be such BEAUTIFUL people!  It is my pleasure to receive your word gifts, and thus delight in whatever beauty you found here too.  Many thanks and blessings to you, Hawkesdream and Peggy W!

I was leary that this hub might get too personal for publication - all the pictures except Sarah Palin are mine - as are the 'relatives'. The back yard four-o-clocks picture is an early morning, and the flowers smell wonderful! I really love four-o-clock fragrance! Guess that is a particular type of 'beauty' too!

Lovely sentiments and phoots, especially the lab :) Angie is very like Sara Palin, isn't she?

Thank you ethel smith, for enjoying and commenting. The lab's name was Ginger and she was most precious, sweet, gentle. And Angie looks more like Sara Palin when she's in action, has her hair up. She even had an 'offer' to contract for a 'look-alike' for Sarah, but hasn't decided to do that. I wanted her to to just to have fun if nothing else...Thank you for sharing with me!

Studies show that beauty is not in the eye of the beholder, that in fact beauty of persons is recognized the world over by face and body symmetry.

But James, we still have our personal classifications, don't we...? Thanks for commenting!

Frogy, I think I need more time to do justice to this hub. I'm, unfortunately, very busy at present. I've had a read, but I think I need to isolate a few questions I have by doing a re-read. I like what I think is the direction you're headed in in the hub, but I need to give this one more read. Regarding attraction, try reading my hub on beauty and destiny. There are some uncanny similarities in the way that you, in your hub, and I in mine, perceive the business of attraction.

Naturally, I'm attracted to this hub--I wrote one on Inner Beauty and came here after you commented on mine. Good observation and nice similarity between your relative and Sarah Palin.

I agree--beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. I'm just glad that there are still people who value inner beauty more.

Outer beauty fades over time. Inner beauty Is a permanent fixture ! They have another name for Inner beauty It Is called other terms like character and Integrity . On a side note , I have alot of character Inside and I get tired of being looked at like some peice of meat !!!

And Angie Is a cutie ! Thx for a nice hub .

tony0724, I agree that one cannot have true inner beauty without that integrity inside. Great truth you spoke!

Georgiakevin, your kind words are welcome, but of course there are those who would disagree. But thank you so much for your encouragement - and for enjoying the hub!

Hello, frogyfish...THIS IS ONE GREAT HUB. And I voted up and away because YOU deserved it. And all of the nice compliments on this comment tree. I admire, not only your talent, but your views on beauty. I agree with you, but I have to look at myself in a mirror each day, so that keeps me pretty humble. Keep up the fine work.
