Best Horror and Monster films of 2015- Updated with "Insidious 3" trailer and news about "The Conjuring 2."

Since Halloween is almost around the corner, I feel it might be appropriate to publish my annual series of hub previews for the following year. And since October is only a couple of days away, I figure we should start things off with the previews for some of the best horror and monster movies of 2015.

As some of you may have noticed, I cut back on a lot of these indie horror previews. It's not because I couldn't find as many as before, as I still found quite a few that were listed as being in development on imdb and comingsoon.net. However, every time I would list one that was listed on there as coming out the following year in the past, a vast majority of them would be unexpectedly be pushed back for various reasons. Therefore, I decided to cut back on a lot of the horror movie previews along with the other genres as well; which means you'll mostly see previews being distributed by major film companies. Don't get me wrong, I'll still list some obscure ones that are in development that some readers may not have heard of yet, but it won't be as many as before.

I do apologize severely if this change upsets any of my readers, but the simple fact is I've been kind of lazy trying to get back into writing. And, it's hard to keep track with updating these hub previews while keeping track with a lot of the currents films coming out. Therefore, I prefer to think of this as putting quality over quantity if that makes any sense.

However, I do hope you all will continue to be patient with me, and I appreciate your support, as I value all my readers greatly. Anyway, I should advise readers that not all these previews will have trailers because they simply haven't come out yet, but I'll be adding them as soon as they become available. Also, I would like to remind everyone that release dates are subject to change, so please be sure to check your local listings.

Update: "The Conjuring 2" has been pushed back to an unspecified date in 2016, due to the fact that Warner Bros. wants to bring back James Wan to helm the project. Wan is said to be busy most of next year because he'll be promoting his new "Fast and Furious" film, so it looks like "The Conjuring" fans out there will have to wait another year to see the anticipated sequel.

Wow! This list sure made my skin crawl and whet my appetite for horror. I will bookmark this and will look forward to these films! Don't forget IT from Stephen King's novel. I heard it'll be in 2015, too.

I heard about that movie being in development, but to my knowledge, I haven't seen a confirmed release date for it yet. I'll add it on this list as soon as it does. This year, I decided to only add movies that have confirmed release dates, so that's why i didn't put it on here sadly because I would hate to put it on here, and then suddenly it becomes announced that it's not going to come out in 2016 or something. lol.

However, I appreciate the suggestion though, as I'll definitely keep my eye on it in case anything changes though. Anyway, thanks for stopping by to check out my hub.

I doubt I could watch these, far too scary. I'm into things like The sound of music. An interesting and contemporary hub.

I cannot wait for the release of Poltergeist (2015, remake), The Conjuring 2 and Insidious: Chapter 3. I hope they're all as good as I am hoping, especially Poltergeist, since I loved the original and would hate to see another failed remake. Thanks for creating the list, it's certainly that time of year to start thinking about horror films. Liked and shared!

@Colleen

Thanks Colleen.

@Craig

Thanks Craig. I'm glad you like the list, and I hope those films are good as well. Have you seen the new "Annabelle" film yet?

Hi Stevennix2001:

I haven't seen "Annabelle" yet, but I have seen the trailer for the film a couple of times and it looks like it could be a great film. Not sure if I want to watch it though, since I have read a couple of reviews for the film and they were leaning towards the negative side.

Yeah, I can see that. I haven't ready any of the reviews for it, but I have seen it recently. Sadly, I haven't gotten a chance to write up my own review of it yet, but it's mediocre at best. Trust me, you're not missing much. Speaking of "The Conjuring", it looks like the sequel was pushed back to 2016, to accommodate James Wan's schedule, since he'll be busy promoting his new "Fast and Furious" movie next year. Oh well. I guess it'll just give us something to look forward to in 2016.
