Disney Christmas Carol
One of the great things about Christmas time is that some of the very best movies of the year are released. For 2009 we are all eagerly awaiting the release of Disney's A Christmas Carol on November 6th 2009. Directed by Robert Zemeckis and with a star studded cast including Jim Cary and Colin Firth it is one of the most eagerly awaited Holiday movies for many years.
But will Disney's Christmas Carol live up to the hype? Is Disney's current fascination with the 3D movie going to capture the audience? The technology is brilliant but will it be the Christmas movie blockbuster? Let us explore what we know so far about Disney's Christmas Carol movie.
Disney's Christmas Carol Movie
Charles Dickens wrote A Christmas Carol in 1843. It seems an understatement to say that it is, like many of this great author's works, a timeless classic. The morality tale which follows the life of the miser Ebenezer Scrooge has been dramatized in many ways but perhaps the new Disney movie will capture it in a way that we simply have not seen before.
The story is simple. Scrooge has dedicated his life to getting as much money as possible. But this has been at the expense of other people and his won personal happiness. He is unable to see the value of anything other than money. This moral has perhaps become even more relevant over the passage of time than even Charles Dickens could have imagined. A timeless concept which shows how humanity can lose it's way with the pursuit of wealth.
Disney is known for choosing very powerful stories for it's movies. So it is going to be so interesting to see how the movie lives up to our expectations.
Disney Christmas Carol Teaser
It looks as though we are going to have to wait a little while for the teaser trailer online (although I viewed a full version at the movie theater) but this gives you a small taste of what Disney's Christmas Carol is going to be like.

Disney's Christmas Carol Rober Zemeckis Interview
This is an interesting view point from those involved in Disney's Christmas Carol including director Robert Zemeckis and Jim Cary who talk about the upcoming movie release. The view of the director is that the technology is now available to view the story as Charles Dickens would have seen it in his mind. For a story written in the middle of the 19th century that is a bold claim but I think we all look forward to the November 2009 release of the movie to see if Disney really has captured the ultimate essence of the classic story.
Mickey Mouse Christmas Carol
The new Christmas Carol movie is not the first time that Disney has ventured into Charles Dickens classic territory. The ever popular Mickey Mouse Christmas Carol movie has become a family Holiday tradition. Of course the new 2009 Disney Christmas Carol movie is going to be very different from this classic Holiday favorite but this is certainly worth a look if you have young children. This has become a Holiday tradition in our household!
