Disney Movies Starting with D Based on Books

Many movies are commonly known to be based on books, but researching Disney movies recently I was surprised to learn that many more were based on books than I originally thought. Below are the Disney movies that start with letter D I know of that are based on books and a little info on what they are based off of.  You will notice the D list contains a lot of movies that start with the word Disney that I suppose could be ignored, but I am basing my alphabetical list on how Disney lists their movies on their website and the ones with Disney or Disney's before the title are how they list them alphabetically.

Darby O'Gill and the Little People - This 1959 movie is based on the books Darby O'Gill and the Little People and Ashes of Old Wishes and Other Darby O'Gill Stories by Herminie Templeton Kavanagh.

Disney Learning Adventures: Mickey and the Beanstalk - This movie is based on the classic "Jack and the Beanstalk" fairy tale that was popularized when it was published in print by Joseph Jacobs in English Fairy Tales.

Disney Learning Adventures: Mickey's Around the World in 80 Days - This movie is based on the Around the World in 80 Days book by Jules Verne.

Disney Learning Adventures: Winnie the Pooh 123s Discovering Numbers and Counting - The Winnie the Pooh characters that are on this learning adventure movie are inspired by the stories written by A.A. Milne. The other Winnie the Pooh Learning Adventure movies are Winnie the Pooh Wonderful Word Adventure, Winnie the Pooh ABCs Discovering Letters and Words, and Winnie the Pooh Shapes and Sizes.

Disney My Friends Tigger & Pooh: Friendly Tales - This movie is of some of the episode of the Playhouse Disney show based on the cahracters from A.A. Milne's Winnie the Pooh stories.  Other DVD releases of the series include Disney My Friends Tigger & Pooh: Hundred Acres Wood Haunt, Disney My Friends Tigger & Pooh: Super Sleuth Christmas Movie, and Disney My Friends Tigger & Pooh: Tigger, Pooh, and a Musical Too.

Disney's Balloon Farm - This 1999 movie is looselt based on Harvey Potter's Balloon Farm by Jerdine Nolen.

Disney's Child Star: The Shirley Temple Story - This 2001 movied is based on the autobiography written by Shirley Temple.

Disney's Holes - This 2003 movie is based on the book of the same name by Louis Sachar.

Disney's The Rookie - This 2002 movie is based on the story of real life Jim Morris, who around the same time published an autobiography called The Oldest Rookie.  I am not positive the movie is actually based on the book, but the book is not based on the movie either.  They seemed to just be timed around the same time with the book coming out first, but probably after production of the movie began.

Disney's Tuck Everlasting - This 2002 movie is based on the book of the same name by Natalie Babbitt.

Dumbo - This 1941 film is based on a book of the same name by Helen Aberson.
