The official Django Unchained soundtrack album contains twenty-four songs. These songs are from various artists. These artists are as follows: RZA, Moderni di Alessandroni, Franco Micalizzi, Annibale, Jamie Foxx, Ennio Morricone, Samuel L. Jackson, Brother Dege, John Legend, 2Pac, James Brown, Elisa, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jerry Goldsmith, Pat Metheny, Rick Ross, Riz Ortolani, Jim Croce, Don Stroud, Luis Bacalov, Don Johnson, Christoph Waltz, Elayna Boynton, Anthony Hamilton, Rocky Roberts and James Russo.

The official title for the soundtrack album is Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack. It was released on December 18, 2012, a few days before the film hit theaters. The album features four original songs that were written and composed specifically for the film. These songs are 100 Black Coffins by Rick Ross, Ancora Qui by Ennio Morricone and Elisa, Freedom by Anthony Hamilton and Elayna Boynton, and Who Did That to You by John Legend. All of these songs were contenders for the Best Original Song category at the Academy Awards. However, none of the songs were nominated.

There were tracks in the movie that didn't make it to the official soundtrack album. These include Gavotte by Grace Collins, Ain't No Grave by Johnny Cash, Town of Silence by Luis Bacalov, Freedom Motherless Child by Richie Havens, Fur Elise by Ashley Toman and Requiem and Prologue by Masamichi Amano and the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra.

One of the things that made Django Unchained a huge hit was the music featured in the film. There's a lot of good music placed in the film. Several of these songs are even original ones - written specifically for the movie. This soundtrack album is a must-have.
