Eighty-five Pounds Of Trouble

Eighty-five Pounds Of Trouble

 Eighty-five Pounds Of Trouble

by Chuck RitenouR for my maternal grandmother, Irene Clem

verse 1:

She told me of that day they met in the middle of a big snow storm

He said Miss I have a brand new Ford and if you'd like I'll drive you home

She was gonna walk til the man at the counter said you can trust Mr. Clem

and she bushed when she said right then and there, I fell in love with him

chorus:

my grand dad was 6 foot 2 and a lean 207

she weighed 85 pounds and was 4 foot 11

All the farm folk laughed and said what an odd looking couple

Alf Clem was a mountain of a man and Irene was 85 pounds of trouble.

verse 2:

she said you know I was born with the sight and God gave me a warning

so I told Alf to take his money from the bank first thing in the morning

BY noon that day the banks were closed and there were chains on all the doors

so we moved to Fort Valley, Virginia and bought a little country store.

chorus:

my grand dad was 6 foot 2 and a lean 207

she weighed 85 pounds and was 4 foot 11

All the farm folk laughed and said what an odd looking couple

Alf Clem was a mountain of a man and Irene was 85 pounds of trouble.

the end.
