FUN IN FLYING SCOTS IN CRESCENT SAIL YACHT CLUB'S ADULT LEARN TO SAIL PROGRAM deedsphotos
Flying Scots are a Good Boat for Learning to Sail
Flying Scots are used by Crescent Sail YC for it's Adult Learn to Sail Program on Lake St. Clair. The program's classes are held for around thirty-six adults every summer. Classes are held evenings with make-ups on Saturdays. Instructors are experienced volunteer adult members of the sail club.
Jerry McNamara was recognized several years ago for initiating the program. Aside from teaching people to sail, the program is also a source of new members for the club.
Flying Scots are a popular one design class sailboat in the Midwest. They are a good boat for sailing classes because they are lively but stable in a breeze and can be sailed with crews of two to four. The pictures below were taken at Crescent Sail YC on Lake St. Clair.
