Noah (2014)

In this drastically altered version of the Noah's Ark story from the Old Testament, Emma Watson plays the role of Ila who is the wife of Noah's son Shem. In this intense remake of an ancient story there are dramatic battle scenes, the building of the ark and the flood. Did I forget to mention that Watson's character Ila is carrying Shem's twins and Noah wants to murder them? Many people dislike the film because of its variation from the Bible. However, if you look at the movie as a separate thing then it is actually a really well done action film. Watson's acting abilities shine in this more mature film.

Neytiri is strong, brave and yet she falls in love with a mere human. Saldana plays this character to perfection. It's easy to forget that the Naavi are just human actors and actresses in front of a green screen. This film did an awesome job at picking actors who could play the part of this foreign race. Saldana brings an odd, savage like feeling to Neytiri's character while still making her likable.
