The kids are off to school and the breakfast dishes done
sad-eyed lady lounging by the pool soakin' in the sun.
she wonders how it happened and she always wonders why
she hasn't got the courage to spread her wings and fly.
Bridge Club luncheons, soap opera afternoons
listening while the radio plays her favorite tunes
sometimes she sings along and sometimes she just cries
knowing sooner or later, she's gonna spread her wings and fly
Fly away, someday she'll fly away
she's gonna fly right out the door of her guilded cage
behind the mask of serenity that hides her rage, she sets the stage
for the day she swears she'll fly away.
