Funk Beyond Control - Audition and Predictions For America's Got Talent 7

Funk Beyond Control is a dance group that successfully auditioned for America's Got Talent 7 at the San Francisco auditions. It is a mixed group of boys and girls between the ages of 12 to 15 at the time of the audition. Their routine aired on Tuesday, May 15, 2012.

Since all three judges gave them a YES vote, they are on to the Las Vegas portion of the audition rounds. If they get through that round, Funk Beyond Control will dance for America's votes in a live round in the Top 48.

Predictions:

This dance team has a reasonable shot at making the Top 48. The selections are pretty random, but the show always has some acts similar to Funk Beyond Control in the voting rounds.

Talent and genre wise, though, I predict they have little to no chance of winning. First, no group like this has ever won. The closest to win were last year's The Silhouettes, but that was because they were unique. For a group that more or less just stands there and dances, a team like this will occasionally make the Top 10. The show almost always picks them if they are at the cutoff in the live rounds. But the end is always the same. Large teams of dancers are simply not emotional enough to win these reality-TV competitions. There have been some dancing groups win in the U.K., but it has never happened in six seasons in the AGT version.

Even if such a group could win, it would not be Funk Beyond Reality. The only solo bits they tried to add were not solid, and the overall dance routine was as standard as you can get. The large-group dance team will probably never win America's Got Talent unless it is something unique like The Silhouettes.

I like group dancing although not so many are good at it. We have a similar (Arab got talent) and it has many talents too.
