God is Real - God Speaks in Music Melody and Song

Music can set a mood, make us feel romantic, relax us, pump us up and sometimes GOD SPEAKS!

We talk to one another in song. We sing stories, express love, encourage one another, tell tales, dream dreams, and imagine.

And when we are in a place where words spoken cannot to be understood. God even talks to us in songs.

The Bible says that God sings over us.

Zephaniah 3:17

King James Version (KJV)

Zephaniah 3:17

17The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.

Amplified Bible (AMP)

Zephaniah 3:17

17The Lord your God is in the midst of you, a Mighty One, a Savior [Who saves]! He will rejoice over you with joy; He will rest [in silent satisfaction] and in His love He will be silent and make no mention [of past sins, or even recall them]; He will exult over you with singing

New International Version (NIV)

Zephaniah 3:17

17 The LORD your God is with you,
the Mighty Warrior who saves.
He will take great delight in you;
in his love he will no longer rebuke you,
but will rejoice over you with singing.”

My testimony

My mother was sick, she was so sick that she had to be hospitalized. She became even more ill while in the hospital. She spent over 40 days in the hospital and about 40 days in ICU. It wasn’t long after she was put into ICU that the doctors had the family called in because her kidneys were shutting down, they had stopped working, the doctor told us she would not make it through the night we prayed and prayed. We asked every one we knew to pray, to add her to the pray listing at their church. I called the Christian Radio Station and asked for prayer, I called some of the TV preachers and asked them to pray. I asked people on line to pray. And do you know what? God healed her and her kidneys were working again. A week later the doctors called in the family a second time and told us her liver wasn’t working, she was yellow, I had never seen a person yellow before and hope I never do again. The doctors told us she would not make it through the night, again we prayed and prayed and asked every one to pray for her and again God healed her liver and she made it through. The family was called in a third time, this time she was bleeding internally and needed surgery to stop the bleeding, otherwise the doctors told us she would bleed to death, however, the doctors also told us she probably would not make it through the surgery. We prayed and prayed and asked everyone to pray for her. We were all in the ICU waiting room, when a surgeon came in, He introduced himself as a surgeon and explained that he would like to help my mother. He said he had an idea, an idea that he wanted to try before doing surgery, we prayed and prayed and we asked everyone to pray, the doctors idea worked. The bleeding stopped and she made it through again, I know God sent the surgeon and she was healed again. Momma was finally getting better. The family was called in for the fourth time we prayed and prayed we asked everyone to pray for her just like we had done before. I had seen God heal her three times all ready I knew she would pull through and be fine. But I was wrong and this time she went to be with the Lord. I was with her she passed onto Glory. I was praying and believing she wouldn’t die, I would not believe it, I would not! I did not believe it even when she did go to be with the Lord Jesus. Here is what happened, The room was full of nurses doctors and family members I went through a wide range of emotions in just a few seconds. I was in shock I couldn’t believe it. I screamed out in my spirit “How could this happen?? How could Satan win?? Then I heard deep inside me, “Satan did not win, death has been defeated, your mother is in heaven with me.” At that moment I realized that the voice I heard was the voice of God. Jesus had taken momma to heaven! I began to praise Him, now I truly understood what Jesus had done on that cross. The He had made a way. A way to heaven when we die. I said, “Oh thank you Jesus! Oh

thank you Jesus! Thank you that you died on that cross! Thank you that you went to prepare a place for us. Thank you that you took momma there.” I knew Satan had made my mother sick. Satan had caused her pain and suffering but, Jesus saved her ! Jesus stopped her pain and suffering. Jesus had taken her to heaven to be with Him. Oh thank you Jesus that someday I will go to heaven and see my momma again.

I tell you this because on the day after my mother went to heaven I was driving, I don’t remember where. I had the radio on a Contemporary Christian Radio station. I was thinking about her, a lot about What If . . .

What if I hadn’t taken her to that hospital? What if I had taken her sooner? What if I had prayed more. What if I had fasted more? What if I had asked more people to pray for her. I knew where she was and I was glad for her, but, I missed her terribly, had I really done all I could have done? The hurt I was feeling, the uncertainty, the thoughts that swirled through my mind, no words could comfort me, and I did not have words to express what I was going through. I was reliving the past, giving my self what the Bible calls unnecessary bruises. Then just when I didn’t think I could take it one more second, a song came on the radio, a song I hadn’t heard before. Some of the lyrics were . . . “Yesterday is History” . . . “Leave the past behind you” . . . “Remember the day that love made history”

Those first words pierced my heart, as the song went on the words dove into my soul, my spirit. I knew God was talking to me and my eyes began to water and I started to weep. These words had broken through to me. They weren’t words anymore they were water to quench my thirsty soul, they were like honey to my body, sweet and powerful. They were healing to my broken heart. There are times when words said can’t be understood, that is to say, they seem to have no meaning. Music however, music goes straight to your soul, your spirit, your mind may not be able to understand the words but your soul can and it will help your mind to understand and realize what is being said. I believe it is in these moments that God talks to us in song. Not every song is used by God, but God can use every song if He wants to. This song that God spoke to me through is “History” by Matthew West.

The song History by Matthew West from 2005 was one of the songs God used to speak to me during my grieving. I say my grieving, because my mother was in a glorious wonderful place with her savior, Jesus Christ, in heaven. I was sad because I would miss her, but, I was glad for her to be in heaven.

I began to ask myself, did I believe God was real? Yes I knew He was. Did I believe Gods word was true? Yes I knew it was. Did I believe that God was in control? Yes I knew He was. Now I understood that God had healed my mother those three times to say

“I AM GOD” . . .

Genesis 35:11 And God said to him, “I am God Almighty

Job 33:29 “ Behold, God works all these things,

Matthew 19:26 But Jesus looked at them and said to them,

“With men this is impossible, but

with God all things are possible.”

Ecclesiastes 3:1 [ Everything Has Its Time ]

To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven:

Ecclesiastes 3:2 A time to be born, And a time to die;

“A TIME TO REST” . . .

Titus 1:2 [Resting] in the hope of eternal life, [life]

which the ever truthful God Who cannot deceive

promised before the world or the ages of time began.

It was my mothers time. It was time for her to be healed and rest in heaven. God had answered our prayers. He had healed her, He had given her a new body and taken her to heaven. There would be no more pain, and, no more suffering.

I heard Bart talk about this song on the radio. Bart wrote this song after his father died.

God loved me so much, my mother loved me so much that she was willing to suffer for a while so that I could see God work and know He was GOD.

I love my mother so much that when ever I start to think about her leaving this earth, I begin to praise Jesus because I know she is in a wonderful, awesome, glorious, loving, peaceful place, with Jesus. I know she would want me to go on living and be happy and be happy especially for her. Then I smile because I know I will be there some day too. Some day when its my time.

Does going to church make you a Christian?

If you think going to church makes you a Christian, I would like to bring something to your attention.

You can live in your garage for years and years and years and you will not, no not ever, turn into a car. You can go to church for years and years and years and you will not turn into a Christian. There is only one way to be a Christian, you must ask God. I have never known of or heard of anyone asking God and He telling them no. The Bible says in Romans 10:13 King James Version (KJV)

13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Not just preachers, but WHOSOEVER, Not just Americans, but WHOSOEVER, Not just church goers, but WHOSOEVER, You are a WHOSOEVER!!!!

There are no perfect people, say one, Jesus the Christ.

Moses was a murderer, David was an adulterer and a murderer, Jacob was a liar and a swindler, Matthew was a cheating tax collector, Peter was a liar and even denied he knew Jesus, Paul whose name was Saul was out to get Christians. He was hunting them down to destroy them and all the while he was thinking that he was doing this for God, until God blinded him and Jesus spoke to him, that’s when his name was changed to Paul. By the way I think its interesting that Paul means insignificant one. Paul would go on to write almost two thirds of the New Testament. If God can change Paul, most assuredly, [that means you should believe it.] He can change you and I. In my case He did, and He is still working on me even now.

You are more than the choices that you’ve made

You are more than the sum of your past mistakes

You are more than the problems that you create you’ve been remade.

We can sing to God.

Thank you for this story. I agree with you that God speaks, I have heard His audible voice and I have heard Him in songs among other ways. One day we will meet our loved ones who have gone ahead before us; we just have to pray for the lost so they too will have the hope of being with Jesus someday.

While it is unspoken taboo to teach Christian music in school, some songs touch the hearts of all students. Every year I use Kirk Franklin's Lean on Me to teach unison singing and shared community. All kids in all classes for the past 15 years have loved the song. They never get tired of it.
