Green Lake Deepest Lake In Wisconsin - Or Is It?

Re: Green Lake Not Deepest Lake in Wisconsin

Your homepage makes the claim that Green Lake IS the deepest lake in Wisconsin. There must be some kind of fine print or twisting of the word "deep" you all use so to make your claim valid. I'd like to know what it is so I can save face with my friends who are now ridiculing me and calling me a liar.

Response:
Dear John,

Green Lake "Home of the Deepest Inland Lake in Wisconsin, 237 feet deep" (natural lake). Lake Wazee is a man made lake. I am not familiar with Chicken Lake in Dane County and 001 feet is not very deep!

Hope this clears things up,

Absolutely. Very helpful folks at the Green Lake CC.

Was that "chicken lake" mention because you posted that...elsewhere?

This was taken from my awesome yet rarely visited Chicken_Talk group (a Yahoo!Groups group). It's run by an honest to goodness chicken who is a moderator and a Pastafarian! It was an actual email I sent to the Green Lake Tourist Department though and the actual response. This hub has been getting a lot of hits. Green Lake travelers? Has to be.

Green Lake is the deepest nature lake in Wisconsin. Lake Wazee is deeper, but it is a man-made lake.

Thanks for the double emphasis Chris! What you said is exactly what Diane said from the Green Lake Chamber of Commerce too. I do stand corrected. But what do you think about Chicken Lake? It's pretty deep too! Relatively speaking that is.

Use to jump in Lohrville and Redgranite quarries in my wild and crazy days. Don't know why I'm still alive (LOL). Glad to know it was that deep.

I am so glad to have found this article: the depth of Green Lake has long been a source of controversy in my neighborhood.
