Has Fame Corrupted Justin Bieber Like Other Celebrities?
Fame Corrupting Celebrities?
In America, we often idolize people and put them on a pedestal. Whether it's a singer like Whitney Houston or an actress like Angelina Jolie. Many celebrities are often very talented and may be great singers or actors or actresses, but many times their personal lives have many problems. Some of these celebrities are born into fame or gain fame in their teens. Justin Bieber gained fame in his early teens.
Justin Bieber was originally discovered on Youtube by Scooter Bruan in 2008 and later rose to fame with singles like "baby." Before he was discovered he was unknown to the media. However, as time went on teens began to idolize him more and more and he was in the media frequently.
Regardless of whether you like Justin Bieber or not, he is undoubtedly much different now compared to when he was discovered. Last Thursday, Bieber was charged with a DUI, driving without a valid driver's license, and resisting arrest. He was also seen racing in a Lamborghini. Years ago, you would not have guessed this young man would do something like this. He was very polite, well-mannered, and had a great singing voice. Personally, I am not a fan of Justin Biebers type of music, however, I can say that he does have some talent. But even with his talented voice, his personal life is gaining negative attention in the media now.
You often see many rock stars or other high profile people that get involved in debauchery. What exactly happens to them? They may make all kinds of money and yet they end up abusing drugs, alcohol, or end up getting arrested for illegal related matters. Is the fame corrupting these celebrities or high profile people? Is it the money? Maybe it's the influence of the people they meet?
Justin Bieber Idolized
Many young teens (in particular young girls) idolize Bieber. There may be adults that like him, but the majority is mainly young teens. Perhaps after a period of time, being idolized by so many people and making so much money has made him arrogant to some extent. When he was arrested he was smart mouthing the police. The attention and his rapid success could be going to his head and making him cocky. It's hard to say for sure, but many child stars or other people who become famous always seem to have a point where their personal lives start spiraling down. And then they are talked about in the media for a long period of time. The attention the media gives them may be negative, but nonetheless, it makes them even more known.
While it may be great that Justin Bieber has some talent, he is not above the law. He is a human being just like anyone else. Whether you agree that he has talent or not, you can not disagree that he has become successful in terms of making money and become well-known and idolized. He gets millions of views on Youtube and has made music videos, has done small acting roles, and there are many who listen to his music. Even with this success, however, somehow along the way, he changed. Personally, I believe its because of the quick rise to fame and what it can do to a person's personality. It makes them feel invincible like they can do anything without getting in trouble. And many times, they can get away with things because of their fame and fortune.
Justin Bieber being influenced?
Could Bieber have been influenced by other high profile people? Perhaps he has met people who have offered him drugs, alcohol, etc.? Before he was famous, he was not meeting other celebrities and singing at concerts and meeting other famous people. We only see what the media shows us. Were not with Justin Bieber in his personal life 24/7. We only see things from our perspective. Bieber could very well be being influenced by others which could ultimately lead him to illegal and immoral behavior.
Should Teens Idolize Justin Bieber?
Many parents may question if their children should even listen to Justin Bieber or idolize him. Due to his recent behavior, he could potentially be a bad influence on young teens and children. Keep in mind, however, that his personal life and career are two different things. In my opinion, it's fine for someone to listen to a singer's music as long as they do not try to emulate that singers personal life that may include things like drugs and alcohol or bad behavior. In a way, it's kind of sad to see talented people who make music become corrupt. The fame gets in their head and can corrupt them potentially.
Teens should understand that Justin Bieber, although he is rich and famous, is still a human being who eats, sleeps, and poops! Putting Justin Bieber on a pedestal or any other high profile celebrity is not always a good thing. These people can make mistakes just like anyone else. Enjoy the music if you like it, but remember that they are human like you and me.
Hopefully the fame does not corrupt Justin Bieber. Many who despise him would love to see this. But honestly, it's only further going to prove the idea that fame and fortune can corrupt people....
