First a little About The Band.

First I would have to note, this is probably my favorite Christian group overall right now. And while there are many great Christian bands it seems right now, these guys are the ones who over and over, song after song, always seem to be able to move my heart to a place of worship. In fact it's gotten to the point, where with every new release I can instantly tell when it's one of their songs simply because of this.

With that said here's a little more about the band:

The David Crowder Band (also known by David Crowder*Band) is a six-piece Christian Modern Worship band from Waco, Texas.

The band began when David Crowder, from Texarkana, Texas, realized that almost half of the students at Baylor University were not attending church, which he found surprising since it is a Christian university. He and Chris Seay started University Baptist Church in Waco, Texas. in 1995 while he was still a student. Crowder led worship there and continued to do so throughout the year. The church's congregation grew, as did the band's lineup. Crowder began writing songs to incorporate into the worship times at the church and eventually the church released an independent CD, Pour Over Me, followed by All I Can Say in 1999.

Band members:

  • David Crowder – Lead vocals, acoustic guitar, piano, programming
  • Mike Dodson – bass guitar, keyboards
  • Jack Parker – electric guitar, vocals, Rhodes piano, mandolin
  • Mike Hogan – violin/strings, turntables
  • Jeremy Bush (Bwack) - drums, percussion, bells, programming
  • Mark Waldrop – electric guitar

VERSE 1:
C
He is jealous for me,
Am
Loves like a hurricane, I am a tree,
G                                          F
Bending beneath the weight of his wind and mercy.
C
When all of a sudden,
                      Am
I am unaware of these afflictions eclipsed by glory,
      G
And I realize just how beautiful You are,
        F
And how great Your affections are for me. (2nd time - Oh how He Loves)

PRE CHORUS:
    C                   Am
And oh, how He loves us oh
          G
Oh how He loves us,
                F
How He loves us all
C   Am

Repeats Verse 1 again louder

CHORUS:
C
He loves us,
          Am
Oh how He loves us,
          G
Oh how He loves us,
          F
Oh how He loves.

VERSE 2:
C
We are His portion and He is our prize,
Am
Drawn to redemption by the grace in His eyes,
G                               F
If grace is an ocean, we’re all sinking.
C
So Heaven meets earth like an unforeseen kiss,
Am
And my heart turns violently inside of my chest,
G
I don’t have time to maintain these regrets,
F
When I think about, the way…

PRE CHORUS:
    C                   Am
And oh, how He loves us oh
          G
Oh how He loves us,
                F
How He loves us all... How He Loves

CHORUS:
         C
Yeah, He loves us,
          Am
Oh how He loves us,
          G
Oh how He loves us,
           F

Oh how He loves us,
          F           C
Oh how He loves us oh.

Fred, I probably would have guessed your church sings this, and that you would love it as well. Because I also know that your heart comes though in your writing and comments, and I have truly found your heart to be one that fully lives in the understanding of the words of this song. And yes it moves me to tears everytime I hear it as well.

In fact I had my time of reflection after finishing this hub and listening to the video. And I have the CD in my car but still after uncountable times of hearing it I am humbled at the very simple truth of it's words!

Thank you Fred for the inspiration You've given me through your faithfulness in Christ. And know I love you as well Brother and I pray for His blessings on your life in all things!

Thanks BR, I'm glad you got a chance to hear this then! I actually had that thought when I finished it. That being that hopefully someone who hadn't heard it would get to. It is truly a simple beautiful heartfelt song!

Thanks for your comment as always BobbiRant and I hope your holidays are Blessed along with all your days!

Thanks lcg, and yes their history adds a bit more to the story. Most bands tend to start as bands not so much as church starters. But it gives a true glimpse of where the members hearts are, so I thought that was a good add.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving lcg, and it seems you understand we have much to be thankful for. So I'm sure you will have, God Bless you dear!

The first time I ever heard David Crowder sing, I hated it. I can't remember the song, but it was a hit probably back in 08. Then another song came out and I liked it some. Each song that comes out is better than the one before. The lyrics of the song you wrote is my very favorite song by DC and of all contemporary worship songs.

I don't believe Croweder wrote that song, but his singing it touches my soul. I love that God is jealous for me, that he loves like a hurricane. Thanks Robert.
