The Philippines, also known as Philippine Islands and Republic of the Philippines, is a southeast Asian country south of Taiwan and east of Vietnam across the South China Sea (West Philippine Sea).

The Philippines has won many coveted titles in the world's major beauty contests. In the Miss Universe Beauty Pageant, Gloria Diaz in 1969 and Margarita Moran in 1973 were crowned Miss Universe.

In the Miss International Beauty Pageant, the Philippines has garnered five (5) crown titles: Gemma Cruz in 1964, Aurora Pijuan in 1970, Melanie Marquez in 1979, Precious Quigaman in 2005, and Bea Rose Santiago in 2013.
