Hot New TV Shows for 2012

There are many hot new TV shows that are hitting the first quarter of 2012, and some that are returning after a mid-season break.

The first semi-interesting show in the lineup is Project Runway All Stars, debuting January 5th on Lifetime. All the old favs are back to compete for the title. While some old faces are returning, some are not. There are new judges and a new host this season.

Undoubtedbly the most anticipated season premiere has been for the sure-to-be-a-hit, Alcatraz. This show is from J.J. Abrams, the creator of Lost, and features a mysterious storyline in which prisoners from Alcatraz begin to go missing in 1963, and reappearing in our present day. Alcatraz kicks off season 1 January 16th.

House of Lies starring Don Cheadle, Kristen Bell, and Ben Schwartz, will premiere on January 8th on Showtime. This adult comedy looks promising, and I recommend giving it a shot.

Are You There, Chelsea? This new show coming to NBC is based on the best-selling book by Chelsea Handler. Are You There, Chelsea? stars Laura Prepon, most notably known for her role as red-headed Donna in That 70s Show, with the hilarious Chelsea Handler co-staring.

Kiefer Sutherland and Danny Glover star in Touch, set to premiere January 25 on Fox. This drama features a single father who has also recently become a widower. He is struggling to find his place in life without his wife, as well as learn to communicate with his son. Tender stuff.

For tattoo enthusiasts, Best Ink will premiere January 30 on Oxygen. The first of its kind, this tattoo competition reality show is hosted by Kimberly Caldwell, and will feature tattoo artists proving themselves as real artists. Hopefully this show will be a fresh watch among a sea of the same old same old in reality.

Seriously? An animated Napoleon Dynamite? We can blame Fox for this one, that airs its first episode on January 15. This ridiculous show is labeled as my number one pick for the worst new show of 2012.
