The Hotel Transylvania movie soundtrack is composed by Mark Mothersbaugh, an American musician who's behind the musical scores of recent Hollywood films like What To Expect When You're Expecting, Safe, 21 Jump Street, Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked, and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. The man has been very busy creating really good film music. So it's going to be very interesting to see what he has in store for us in his compositions for Hotel Transylvania. The film is the perfect vehicle for his talent because he has worked extensively with animated works, especially in television. He has created music for popular TV animated shows like Rugrats, Clifford the Big Red Dog, Felix the Cat and Santo Bugito.

Get to Know Mark Mothersbaugh

Mothersbaugh is not only a music composer, he is also a singer and a painter. In fact, he belongs to a new wave band that he co-founded. He has been the band's lead singer since 1972. The band is called Devo. The name of their band comes from the term “devolution”. They started playing as Devo in 1973. They came up with the idea which they referred to as the devolution of humankind. That's where they got the name for their band.

As an artist, Mothersbaugh paints in a style that is reminiscent of the works of Andy Warhol. This style is influenced by surrealism.

He is an accomplished composer not only for films but for television series and video games as well. 1996's Crash Bandicoot was the first video game he scored. He went on to score the game's sequels. Other video games he scored were Crash Team Racing, The Sims 2, Interstae 82, and Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy.

In 2004, Mothersbaugh was the recipient of the prestigious Richard Kirk Award given by the BMI Film and TV Awards. He received the award for his substantial contributions to television and film music. This award is given annually to deserving music composers.

About the Movie

Hotel Transylvania is an animated comedy directed by Genndy Tartakovsky, the creator of popular television series like Dexter's Laboratory, Samurai Jack and Sym Bionic Titan. As you can see, Tartakovsky is a very talented man. The question is will this talent in television translate to film? Basically, the premise of the film revolves around a young human traveler stumbling upon a hotel/castle which turns out to be a resort for the world's most fearsome beasts and monsters. The owner of the hotel, Dracula must protect his daughter Mavis who just turned 118 years old from falling in love with the human.

The characters in the movie are voiced by well-known actors including Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg, Selena Gomez, Fran Drescher, Kevin James, Steve Buscemi and Cee Lo Green.

Among the monsters featured in the film are Frankenstein, the Mummy, Quasimodo, and the Werewolf.
