Watching television with your little ones can seem like a lot. You are a busy person and don't have time to just sit around watching TV. It may seem a small thing to you, but sitting down to watch TV with your child can mean the world to them. Here are some ways you can enjoy watching television with your child.

Get involved with your child

A great way to enjoy watching TV with your child is to get involved in the show! If the TV asks you a question, help your child find out the answer. If he or she answers correctly, celebrate! Dance around with them, high five them, and praise them! If you make it a big deal, they'll feel so proud. You can make it a game to see how many questions your child got right!

If you are watching a TV show about crafts or cooking food, do it. Write down the directions and get the supplies. Your child will feel so special that they are making what the people on TV made. If you don't have time to write down the directions, you can most likely find the directions on the TV's website.

Show your kids what you grew up with

Do you remember getting super excited about a certain show that came on when you were a child? Sometimes, they have them still airing on TV. If you can find that show, show them to your child. Your child won't care if the show is new or old. Instead, he or she will think it is super cool that they are watching a show that you watched when you were their age. You will also be more inclined to enjoy it since it's a show that you already know you enjoyed.

Look forward to something

If you are watching a show that has viewer submissions, submit things! Some shows have crafts or pictures you can submit, birthday sign ups, and more! After you put in your submission, watch the shows to see if your submission was picked. Most shows will have a link on their website to submit things or an address you can mail things to. When you see your names on the screen, your little one will feel famous and you'll feel pretty good about yourself also.

Relax

Make it a pajama party. Pop some popcorn, cuddle up with your child under blankets, and cuddle. Consider it relaxing family time. The household is calm, no fighting is going on, and you get to enjoy time with your child. You may have other stuff to do, trust me, it can wait. Your child isn't going to want to do this forever, enjoy it while you can.

Forcing yourself to sit through a TV show with your child can be hard. Especially with a lot of things to do. But, spending as much time with your little one as possible is important. They won't want to for long and they'll love spending time with their parent. If it's still hard for you to sit and enjoy after these tips, remember that it's only for 30 minutes to an hour. Cuddling and enjoying their company is worth it.

I watch TV with my daughter every night. One episode before book time. It is so cute watching her interact and getting that cuddle time. I realize (and am seeing it now) that it won't last forever and I want it to! I am taking all the time I can get!

Amanda...no worries. It doesn't have to end. It is my 23 yr.old son who turhed me on to all the HBO series and more. We stream them and make popcorn almost nightly. lol. Next step with your beauty will be books. I promised my daughter I would read the same books as her so that we could talk about them. Without her, I never would have read Twilight or the Hunger Games! Your daughter is precious!

I hope it doesn't end! I look forward to spending and sharing all those moments with her. She's already starting to share MY interests too which is super cool. I am so blessed to have such a beautiful and wonderful daughter.

Oh, my! I still have little kiddy videos, and my baby is now 18. LOL. She still watches all the kiddy shows on tv which I love. I wish she would still cuddle with me though. :(

I LOVE cartoons. I was so excited to have my baby so I would have a better excuse to why I still watch them at the age of 23 :)

MaximumFatLoss, I bet she would still LOVE to cuddle. I'm 23 and STILL cuddle with my mom.

JamiJay, that's exactly what I thought too. "I'm watching it for my daughter!" I think they caught on though.
