How to Listen to Music for Free? Spotify

For some time now all our prayers regarding online music were heard - and the answer came in the form of a program called Spotify.

This program is free and lets you listen to all the music you want, as many times as you want.

What you need to do is go to and create a Free account, then just download the Free installation file and install it on your computer. Once installed open the program, sign in with your username and password and you are ready to go.

Spotify has a search feature where you can type the name of a song, artist or album in and Spotify will search the huge database for all the matches to your request. Much to my surprise even loads of Portuguese music is available, that was impressive.

Loads of Free music??? What is the trick then? Well...not a big one actually, as with radio stations, you will hear an advert from times to times. I don't find it to be a problem at all, I can even click on the image for the advert and learn more about the advertised product (usually related with music).

Spotify recently added two new (money related) features. One of them is actually a "buy" button next to most of the songs, this will allow you to purchase the songs you like and have them downloaded to your computer for you to listen even when you don't have internet. (or copying them to your portable mp3 player).

The other one is related with the Premium version. Yes, there is a Premium version, this is the one you pay a monthly fee so you don't have the adverts from time to time. This new feature only available to Premium users is an iPhone application. The application is also free but only works if you have a Premium account.

So, there you go, a great program that allows you to listen to as much music as you want and even gives you the possibility to buy it or take it with you on your iPhone (if you're willing to pay).
