"Just Love" a CD by Brian Courtney Wilson
This is a fine first release
From marketing to music
"Just Love" is a debut gospel music CD by Brian Courtney Wilson, pharmaceutical sales representative and music minister at his church turned solo artist. It ranges from upbeat to stirring and reveals an artist with passion and good range. Most of the songs are in the context of worship, but he sings the praises of a church he visited in the opening track and he slips in a love song to his wife as well.
The CD opens with the title track, in which Wilson talks about the warmth and fellowship he experienced at a church in Texas. This song has an R&B flavor and Wilson gives a sample of his ability to flow from high notes to lower registers.
He then switches to the more intense "All I Need" which is a prayer for the feel of God's presence and the reassurance of God's love and forgiveness. This is already a popular tune requested and played on radio stations across the nation.
This is followed by "No Other" a more uptempo song with hiphop elements. The rest of the songs follow this rotation from slow to fast, somewhat traditional to modern, sacred to secular. Wilson demonstrates the versatility and flexibility to sing well in different style presentations.
The only disappointment is that the last song on the CD ends after less than two minutes. It may be intentional but it leaves the listener feeling jarred and thinking, "Where is the rest of the song?" Overall, however, this is a good first offering by an artist with good range, good skills and good ideas. I look forward to seeing what else this young singer will bring to the music table.
