LISTEN TO THIS: Once (soundtrack)

In my opinion, this is the best soundtrack to come out in the last decade (and one of the best albums in general). The record is comprised of 13 tracks, a mixture of melancholy, somber ballads and catchy, more upbeat pieces.

The most notable track, of course, is "Falling Slowly." Undeniably one of the best songs to have appeared in a modern-day film, it's no wonder that it faired well at the 80th Annual Academy Awards. If I had to pick a favorite from the soundtrack, however, it'd probably be "If You Want Me." Although it did not receive an Oscar nomination, it was on the shortlist. As far as I'm concerned, the entire Best Original Song category could have been made up of tracks from Once.

I don't consider myself to be as skilled in articulating music as I am with film and television. I can't really have a conversation with you about A-flat major or minor chords, or tempo, or anything like that. All I really know is what sounds good. So I'll just let this fantastic album speak for itself. If you've already heard how good it is, you know what it has to offer. If you haven't (yet), it's never too late to acquaint your ears with musical excellence.
