Lara Fabian is preparing herself for a strong comeback to the Francophone music scene, having just recently released a brand new single, "Quand Je Ne Chante Pas" (When I Don't Sing), on June 15, 2015. The song is the very first taken from Fabian's upcoming new studio album, which, according to the singer, will be titled Ma Vie Dans La Tienne (My Life In Yours) and will be released on November 6, 2015, with the backing of Warner Music France. The singer had already announced in 2014 that new music was set to be launched in 2015 and the promise was kept, for the delight of her fans and listeners. Other titles from the album, that Fabian prepared in collaboration with names such as Elodie Hesme and David Gategno, include the songs "Ma Vie Dans La Tienne", "Le Coeur Qui Tremble", "S'Il Ne Reste Qu'Un Ami", "Elle Danse" and "Non Coupable". In the latter, the singer even finds the humor behind the stereotypes that surround her, adding the line "De tout je suis capable, même de geuler Je T'Aime" (I am capable of everything, even of yelling Je T'Aime), a reference to the song that got her to her peak of popularity, but also to the peak of public criticism. A tour is also under preparation and it will start on March 2016 in Paris, France, in the Salle Pleyel.

Promotion for the new single and album has already started, with the singer appearing as a guest in a number of French TV shows, from Les Enfants de la Télé to Vendredi Tout Est Permis. The singer will also be performing her new song live on June 20, on the annual event Fête de la Musique. Fabian is also reinforcing her presence on social media, re-strengthening the bonds with her French-speaking audience, who has long been waiting for her after a dramatic ear accident in 2013 forced the singer to postpone and then completely abandon her Le Secret tour in 2014 to protect and recover her hearing function. Although the singer returned to the international stages on the summer of that year, France and Belgium were never gifted with new concerts, only increasing the anticipation behind this new musical project.

In fact, the ear injury seems to be the inspiration behind this song, an upbeat pop number that offers a surprisingly light-hearted and optimistic take on the difficult situation faced by Lara Fabian. The song sounds and feels like summer, while talking about the winter in the singer's life, describing in simple terms how she is just like everyone else when she isn't singing -- a wife, a mother, someone who walks on the streets, who listens to the stories of strangers and picks up her child from school... --, even though that is the one thing that she was made for and it is all that she can do. In short, it is a song about finding little bits of happiness to survive even the dark days, when she doesn't feel like herself.

Where much of Le Secret was dark, mellow and/or dense (not necessarily bad things at all, since these are some of the reasons why it's Fabian's most daring work and, musically, probably her best), "Quand Je Ne Chante Pas" seems to suggest a completely opposite direction for the next album, with a very commercial sound and simple, easily understandable and relatable lyrics. Commercial is the keyword here - this is clearly a song that actually has a good chance on the charts and may push Fabian closer to the limelight than she has been in recent years. The only downside? No risks taken. This is a catchy song that does everything right, but fails to actually show something new, a new side of Lara Fabian. That won't be necessarily bad for everyone either, as it does show more of the old Lara Fabian, from the times of Carpe Diem, Pure and Nue, the albums with her most commercially effective melodies yet. Fabian's listeners will just have to wait and see where this ride will take them.

Read the lyrics (paroles) to "Quand Je Ne Chante Pas" below:

Back from All Around the World...

Lara Fabian's new single comes right after the end of the second installment of her "Best Of" tour, which has successfully taken the singer across multiple countries, from Northern Europe to North America. The final concert of the tour was held in Prague, Czech Republic, on June 5, 2015, and was professionally recorded for a future showcase in a cinema in Paris, in the same date in which Fabian's new album will be released. The showcase will be titled Un Soir Autour Du Monde (One Night Across the World) and will allow the Francophone fans of the singer to see her performing live in high quality before a packed and excited Czech audience.

The San Remo Experience

Lara Fabian also had time to explore the Italian territory, having released a greatest hits album in the country, Essential Lara Fabian, right after appearing as a candidate on the last edition of the renowned Sanremo Festival, which took place in February 2015. The singer competed with the original song "Voce", which she co-wrote with Fiorenzo Zanotti and Cristiano Cremonini. Unfortunately, failing to garner the sympathy of most of the audience, Fabian was booted off before the final, but did not leave Italy without a reverent standing ovation after her last live performance of "Voce" after the festival.

The singer also had the opportunity to perform an Italian version of the classic "Je Suis Malade", by Serge Lama, which is still an essential element in Fabian's repertoire. The dramatic performance of "Sto Male", originally sung by Ornella Vanoni, brought the singer back to what defined her and first made her famous - her powerful voice set to an imposing ballad and complemented by a visceral physical performance. Hailed by many, but also hated by a lot, the reactions to this performance certainly reflect the type of feelings that Lara Fabian has often elicited throughout her 25+ year-long career and may be yet another sign that this was the "real" Lara Fabian that a part of her audience claims to have been missing for a long time. The new album Ma Vie Dans La Tienne will definitely provide a grand opportunity for the singer to once again display her essence in full force. Stay tuned until November 6, 2015!
