verse 1
My grand daddy lived on a farm in the mid-west
where the twisters came without any warning.
he and grandma worked hard and they did their best
rising at 4 am every darned morning
Grandma had breakfast waiting on table
the wood stove keeping the kitchen warm
in a land so hard, they were willing and able
living and loving in the eye of the storm.
...living and loving in the eye of the storm.

verse 2
He made big bed made from a might oak tree
he sawed the boards and he sanded them smooth
then he joined them together in the middle of the bed room
so big, so heavy it could never be moved
folks came to see it from miles around
and made jokes about all the babies to be born
carved in the head board for the world to see
" love will keep us safe in the eye of the storm"
... love will keep us safe in the eye of the storm.

chorus

In the eye of the storm, the eye of the storm
love will keep us safe in the eye of the storm
we'll find shelter and comfort in each others arms
and love will keep us safe in the eye of the storm
.. love will keep us safe in the eye of the storm.

verse 3

One night as they were making love in that big bed
the rain began to pour and the wind began to howl
and the twister came up on them like a runaway freight train
there was nothing they could do, no time to run now
Gramdma cried a little as he held her close
and held on the the bed with his other strong arm
and when the house blew away, that bed never moved
Their love had kept them save in the eye of the storm
....love will keep us safe in the eye of the storm
....love will keep us sake in the eye of the storm.
