Once Upon A Song

Sometimes, it's not the song that makes you emotional, it's the people and things that come to your mind when you hear it.

This hub was inspired by Carol who wrote the question “What song brings back special memories?”

I guess the song would be “Where Are You Now” by Honor Society.

The first time I heard this song, I was on a bus, alone, and reminiscing my life when things are just plain simple. Tears fell on my eyes as I listened to this song which brought a thousand memories on my mind. It is quite sad to think of those days gone by.

It’s been years since we graduated from college and the thoughts about the friends I left way back home was very haunting to tears. From first grade until high school, until we choose our own path to college, I treasured every memory with my friends who are always been there to support me. From skipping classes to crushes and from cheating on exams and projects, we thought we’ll never be apart.

But then, people have to change. It’s sad but that’s the way it is. We have to move on, follow our own path, reach for the stars and be successful in any decision we have to take. We have to say goodbye but I know that someday, we might say have to say hello again.

The first line of the song reminds me of my teachers. Some are like “nightmares” while others are "angels".

The terror teachers always have the most votes in the play “Remember When?” This is a reunion game we always play when we looked back on our school days memories and have a laugh on what we did way back then.

The song also reminds me of the friends I lost track of; the classmates I never seen after graduation and of people who just silently walked out of your life just like that and of course who would forget our first love and first crush?

And the last but not the least, our favorite bands, A1 and Westlife, the sing along and the late night tv concerts? Oh I miss those things.

I think the song is fantastic – so many memories to form on its sweet melodies and lines. Oh how I love to go back to the time when we still had each other and we think the world is just as simple as crayolas on a white paper ready to color the sheet.

I love to go back to the time when we always see smiles on our faces as we hug each other goodbye after the end of the day and hoping to see each other again tomorrow.

But so much had changed. Oh the time flew so fast and no matter what we’ll do, we are just moving forward and not backward. But memories will remain... forever.

To all my friends who once colored my memories, where are you now?

But if you want to leave, you can. I'll remember you though. I remember everyone that leaves. - Lilo and Stitch

This is so trut. The way my brain works is when I hear even the first few notes of a song, I can remember all the words and the memories related to when tha song was playing. Otherwise, I cannot hardly remember any words until I hear a few notes of the song playing. Great hub. In His Love, Faith Reaper

It is so true that once leaving school days behind us, we lose touch with many of those school chums that seemed so important to us at the time. Each sets out on a different path and we are lucky if some of those paths converge later on cementing those friendships. Songs and music certainly can instantly take us back in memory of times spent with friends and/or family. Up and interesting votes.

..as always ..... excellent evocative writing by an unique voice and talent .... and yes music is such an emotional context isn't - much more so than an intellectual one - and it can take you right straight back to a time and a place and with the people who once knew - love your insight here ...... lake erie time canada 1:50pm and sending you good thoughts - and what is a song that haunts me or excites me - well I always love listening to Heroes by David Bowie .......

unknown spy..you are so right.., hearing a particular song can have magical powers, where we go back in time and feel like 20 again..there are certian days where I turn on my old tapes ( they're CD's now) put on the head phones and crank up the volume.. making that day non-existing.. my way of escaping...you did a great job with this hub...thumbs up...

Ah, memories. We can always hold on to them, but perhaps the friends that once were are carrying on somewhere else without us. We may cross their minds once in a while...

It's sad we lose touch with people, but memories stay always and it's often music that brings them to the surface.

Loved this track of music I have never heard it before.

I believe we all can relate to this. It is hard growing up, moving on, and losing friends. We don't want too and we try to keep our friends, but we are all busy with our life. This was a perfect song for this article. Your right though, the memories will always remain.
