More New DVD Releases for October

Earlier on this month I listed some "New DVD Releases for October". Now here is the next part as the good news is there are even more great New DVD Releases coming out in the second part of the month. There are new versions of classics, new movies just being released, some great movies being released on Blu-ray for the first time and even a horror or two.

As the war in Vietnam rages around him, experienced soldier Captain Benjamin Willard finds himself sobering up from his drunken haze when he is picked to take on a top secret mission. Deep in the jungle is Green Beret Colonel Kurtz who has gone isane and is leading his men on unathorized guerrilla missions in enemy territory. Williard's mission along with a small crew is to navigate the Nyung river by boat and assassinate the renegade Colonel. But the journey is not easy as not only does Willard witness the same things which pushed Kurtz over the edge but also disovers the darkness of his own mind and heart.

Newly engaged Janet and Brad are happily driving away from Denton, Ohio when they get themselves lost in a torrential rain storm. Stumbling upon the castle of Dr. Frank-N-Furter they are welcomed in to take refuge where the Dr., a transvestite is holding his annual transsexual convention. Whilst there the Dr. unveils to them his latest creation a young man called Rocky and whilst the Dr. goes about seducing them both Janet falls for Rocky. But things get even stranger when Janet and Brad discover some even more peculiar things about Dr. Frank-N-Furter and his transvestite friends.

Seven Samurai (The Criterion Collection) [Blu-ray]

When a small village comes under attack from bandits, the local ask a veteran samurai to help protect them. The veteran samurai agrees to help out and recruit 6 other samurai to help teach the villagers how to protect themselves in return for just 3 meals a day.

"Seven Samurai" is not only the movie which has inspired countless others such as "The Magnificent Seven" it is in it's own right an amazing movie, a must watch for anyone who is passionate about movies and wants to watch those which help define genres.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (Ultimate Edition) (2004)

With his third year at Hogwarts beckoning Harry Potter is having a tough time with his relatives, so much so that after using magic to inflate Uncle Vernon's sister Marge he runs away. That isn't his own problem as when he returns to Hogwarts he learns that a dangerous criminal and Voldemort's trusted aide Sirius Black has escaped from the Azkaban prison and are after him. Could things be any bad well yes as a group of shape shifters called Dementors are in charge of guarding Hogwarts and they seem to be having some strange effect over him.

The Girl Who Played With Fire (2010)

Having spent a year abroad, Lisbeth Salander returns to Sweden where she becomes the prime suspect when a journalist investigating prostitution and trafficking is killed. With the help of Mikael Blomkvist, editor of Millenium magazine, they work to try and discover who is behind the murder but at the same time some secrets about Lisbeth's family.

Two years on and having bagged "Mr. Big", life isn't turning out for Carrie Bradshaw as she hoped as "Mr. Big" likes different things to her. But Samantha manages to wangle an all expenses paid trip to Abu Dhabi for the four friends.

Back to the Future: 25th Anniversary Trilogy (+ Digital Copy) [Blu-ray]

It started in 1985 when Marty McFly finds himself sent back to 1955 in Doc Brown's time travelling DeLorean and possibly about to mess up the present as he accidentally alters the course of history and the way his mother and father meet. But that is just one issue for Marty and Doc Brown who over 3 movies go to the future, back to the past, to the present and finally find themselves in the old wild west and facing McFly's nemesis the Tannen family.

It's 25 years since Back to the Future hit the screens in the 80s but now for the first time the trilogy is being released on Blu-Ray, a worthy addition to any movie collection.

Alien Anthology [Blu-ray]

Back n 1979 Ridley Scott took us into space with "Alien" the first movie in one of the biggest and best horror franchises in the history of cinema. Set aboard the mining ship Nostramo, the crew receive an SOS message from a planet and decide they must investigate. But whilst there some form of alien attaches itself onto the face of one of the crew and in a desperate bid to remove the alien end up unleashing an alien horror which will affect every single one of them.

Winter's Bone (2010)

With her mother suffering from depression and a father who has gone missing, 17 year-old Ree Dolly does what she can to keep the family together. But when she learns that her absent father has put their home up as collateral for bail she is stunned, even more so when she also learns that unless he turns up for his trial in a week they will lose the only thing they have left. Although aware that her father is involved in the drug business and warned to keep out by her uncle, Ree is determined to discover the truth in order to protect her family.

Aw, I loved Sex and the City 2. I think I was one of the few people who found it funnier than the first!
