Movie Stars and Mustaches
History of Mustaches
In Neolithic times, a Scythian horseman is the oldest known man to sport a mustache, which is seen on a piece of art, titled the "Horseman". He was also bald and part of a nomadic tribe that was known for their skill in shooting arrows with deadly accuracy. After battles they would also drink the blood of the first enemy they killed. Genghis Khan is another example of tyrant with a manly mustache who murdered thousands of people in other tribes in the 1100's.
Since this tribe lived north of Mongolia, near Siberia, I would have assumed the men would have grown hair anywhere they could due to the cold, and, of course, the lack of a good razor. Apparently, they shaved with sharp stones, which I presume was not pleasant.
Old Movie Stars
Many older and new movie stars have mustaches, and they often have beards or goatees as well. A couple of the older stars that are interesting include Errol Flynn, who kept a thin mustache due to angular features, and Clark Gable.
Clark Gable’s sexy mustache was a “chevron style”, which seemed to shorten his wide upper lip. Another point of interesting fact about Clark Gable was his full sideburns that partially hid his large ears. Females swooned over this dashing man despite the ears.
Sam Elliot is considered by many to have the best mustache of all the movie stars. He is rated number one in the Sweet 'Stache: 50 Badass Moustaches and the Faces Who Sport Them.” His thick, handlebar moustache is almost a trademark for a rough and tough cowboy. This sexy man can get the job done!
Sam Elliot was born in 1944, and at his age of nine decided to become an actor. He has been in a huge number of westerns, but has appeared in other types of movies also. To my knowledge he has always had a mustache, and he has aged quite well.
Tom Selleck is another hunk that has worn a mustache throughout his career. He was born in 1945, and is well-known for his role in Magnum PI, a TV series. He is currently one of the stars in Blood Bloods. He has also played in several movies and other TV programs. His good looks, sexy mustache, dimples and charm have kept him very popular throughout the years.

Pirates of the Caribbean
Johnny Depp grew a thin mustache for Pirates of the Caribbean, along with a braided goatee when he played Jack Sparrow. That mustache style became very popular with men when the movie debuted. He has had an interesting career from the beginning with his own band, and then, he began acting. His career took off from playing in 21 Jump Street to a wide variety of movie characters. He is certainly one of the most versatile Hollywood movie stars.
Yosemite Sam, last but not least, is the Looney Tunes character with the wildest mustache. This cartoon character seems to have a few anger management problems, but I did not want to leave him out of the variety of mustaches that are seen from Hollywood.
There are many other movie stars with all types of facial hair. I picked some stars with unique mustaches. For a mustache to look good it must be trimmed frequently. It takes about a week to 10 days to grow a mustache for most men, but not all men can grow some of the thicker mustache styles.
