Movies I have Watched Again and Again

The Devil's Advocate. In the whole movie, Keanu Reeves never lied in his conversations with anyone.

The Ten Commandments

A magnificent production.

Lord of the Rings. Great story telling, fantastic cast.

Dune, the Mini Series. The director did a great job with limited money. Brian Tyler the composer did a superb job for the sound track in the whole series. I bow to him.

Now 'The Devil's Advocate' was sensational mostly throughout. I think Pacino's version of the Devil may very well be the most accurate potrayl I've ever seen - always powerful, yet always seducing, always twisting words and meanings while appealing to the bases things in us. I just hate the ending - suicide, even in the mindset, just doesn't sit well with me. 'The Ten Commandments' I've also seen a hundred times over although having studied more, I can now separate a lot of the truth from the Hollywood in it. You got me on Dune. I didn't care for the film and never saw the mini-series. Perhaps the mini-series is better and I'll have to check it out. 'Lord of the Rings' I sat through each probably once or twice and really liked them all, but they are so long, I just can't sit through the whole things over and over again. My family might have them on sometimes and I'll watch parts here and there, but just too much to watch at one sitting. Peace.

A.M. Werner, so true...about Devil's Advocate

I kept watching it and watching it because I was trying to see if I made the mistake..He never lied! Keeanu Reeves had memorized the Bible! I agree about the end, but the point is that his mother raised him well. In great faith.

Dune the Movie was bad.

Dune the miniseries was filmed in Europe..it was done superbly for the money.

Thank you.

Certainly the Devil's Advocate because I like the weird! It used to be books that I reread but now it's films - and I always notice something different.

Thanks for the hub!

Thank you, BkCreative for stopping by, and leaving a comment.

I will post the Matrix Trilogy on the next hub, as well as What Dreams May Come.

The Matrix, I thought interesting until I met an old friend in Florida while attending a class and he told me flat out, "Why are you spending ten thousand dollars to attend this class when you can just watch The Matrix ?"

That was a wake up call and funny too.

Both "the Lord of the Rings" and "Dune"(the miniseries)are indeed great movies that can be watched again and again and again!!!! I loved them!!!! Few are the movies that can be watched more times!!!!

So thank you Msorensson!!!! and also the soundtracks of these movies, as you have said, are very beautiful!!!!

About the Movie "Dune"(1984), have you watched the "Extended Edition"?

msorensson profile image

msorensson 6 years ago Author

Thank you Clark Kent.

No I have not watched the extended edition of Dune 1984.

I was disappointed with the movie even if I like both Sean Young and Kyle McLachlan so I saw a part of it and then did not watch it again.

Clark Kent profile image

I can understand you very well. Dune 1984, in both the versions, is really strange and "crazy", his director being D.Lynch.... however, the differences between the two (the miniseries and Dune 1984)makes possible to watch both of them as a very different movie, but who takes place in the same environment and in the same world.

But are not two several stories: only two different manner of telling the same story. And this for me is very interesting and curious: I love the variations, thanks to them one is able to better understand the story itself.

msorensson profile image

Hello, Clark Kent from Europe. Thank you for stopping by, again. I am honored.

We perceive the material world through our filters, created by imprints, memory patterns from our karma, present life conditioning, both ancestral and cultural. As soon as we are born, these perceptions, a pattern of consciousness is there.

This is the reason the same event seen through different eyes are related differently.

I attended a tea ceremony, very formal, with a Zen Master in Japan, many years ago.

If I were to sit with him again, the experience would be entirely different.

Oh, I am curious. Why Clark Kent? Superman. I love the theme song there:

"Can you read my mind..."

I have memorized it by heart.

I wish you a great rest of the weekend and a fabulous week ahead.

Why Clark Kent? Clark Kent with the image of Lex Luthor, I love them both, they are in fact like brothers.

Hello, Clark,

Lex Luthor..hmnn..mischievous..a spoiled child with so many toys he does not know what to do with them and so he gets bored and dreams of fighting the world to get the attention of Superman..a game, no more..ha ha ha.. touche'

Thank you. I enjoy chess.

I haven't worked on it much lately. But I work on the concept in my mind every day and I am constantly collecting notes and bookmarks that are relevant. I think next month I'll cut my Hubs back to one per week so I can work on it every day and get it wrapped up by summertime. Thanks for asking.

I love the Lord of the Rings series!!! I also collected old editions of the books as well... It might be informative if you could provide some highlights of these films and why you really loved them! One liner is enough to convince other people to find out why these films are worth watching...again and again! For example, why the Lord of the Rings have a good storytelling - in what sense? Doesis it more effective than the book itself?

msorensson profile image

msorensson 6 years ago Author

Great suggestion, digital explorer, thank you!!

All of the movies that I watch over and over are superbly done, a tribute to the ingenuity of man.

They also have a common theme, a spiritual message.

Most of all, they tell of the triumph of love, not necessarily romantic love, but love of the heroes for other human beings.

Thank you for your comments!! I appreciate.

Hello, thanks for being part of my hub's followers. Yes, Im a fanatic of films because of the themes that these productions wanted to tell us! For instance, the Lord of the Rings is about determination, loyalty and friendship! It is about teamwork. I remembered that there was a documentary about the film and how it is being compared to the stories of our prominent polital leaders around the world - every leader's success is influence by his loyal advisers!

Fascinating. I'm most impressed by your personal interest in these films and your reasons for being interested in them.

The Ten Commandments" has been a favorite since it first was released. If it's being shown on network TV, which it usually is during religious holidays and observations, I always watch it again. It's a most heroic story, whether or not it's true to the story told in the O.T.- plus it's gorgeous & well cast.

Haven't become caught up in "Lord of The Rings", although I guess I can understand its appeal. I don't know "The Dunes", movie or series.

I hadn't thought about "The Devil's Advocate" for ages, but your reminder brought it back to mind quite vividly. Perhaps I'll get it to watch again.

I, too, have limited my movie-watching almost exclusively to DVDs, which I collect of movies I particularly like & want to re-view - sometimes repeatedly. Of course - some of them turn out to be one-timers or very seldom selected to watch. But those I really like, come to mind frequently - & it's good to be able to go get them & see them right then.

When the satellite movie channels - & at one time we subscribed to all of them - became so repetitive, with so many movies which held no appeal, or those which did were in my growing DVD collection, I canceled those subscriptions.

I alphabetized my titles for 2 reasons - to prevent buying duplicates & for ease of access. haha.

I have to admit that I dearly love "Jane Eyre", "Pride & Prejudice","Age Of Innocence", "Gone With The Wind", "The Notebook", "The Portrait of Dorian Gray", "Elizabeth I" (the 2-part series), especially much. A couple of Keanu Reeves' movies are among my favs, too - "A Walk In The Clouds" * "Sweet November". "Somewhere In Time" with Christopher Reeve & Jane Seymour is a lovely movie too.

Others crowd to mind but enough is enough! After all - most I have are there because I do love them!

Thank you for a delightful glimpse into your mind.

msorensson profile image

msorensson 6 years ago Author

I love that film too, Pride and Prejudice, and I have watched it more than once.

I have not watched the others that you mentioned, like you too little time, Nellieanna :-)

Thank you for that list and thank you for posting your comments. I now know what to look for.

Hello, msorensson. Interesting choice of favorite films.

I enjoyed watching Keanu in "The Devil's Advocate," but was continually put off by Pacino's over-the-top rants. Which is unusual because usually I enjoy watching Al. But not in this film.

Some good choices! I had forgotten about the Devil's Advocate but the video you inserted brought it back to life in my mind. I had read Dune but don't think that I ever saw the movie. Sound of Music comes to my mind as having enjoyed it numerous times.

Oh, yes, The Sound of Music, We see it every Christmas Season as I recall like a tradition. Yes I loved that film too, Peggy, as much as I love "What a Wonderful Life"

I have watched "The Devi's Advocate" numerous times just as a test and true enough, there are so many layers in that movie that one sees with each watching.

Please do watch Dune when you have time. It is long...but you might enjoy it. I hope you will. It was beautifully done for the television.

Thanks for stopping by, Peggy.

Cool picks on the movies. I had to come check out your hubs since you were so kind to visit mine!

La Jolla, oh sigh - that is my stomping ground. I worked at Scripps Memorial and that is where I got my start as a medical transcription when I was 20 years old. I also spent as much time as I possibly could in La Jolla at the beach. Seems like another lifetime ago.

Thanks again for visiting - and hope to see you on the hubs!

I am glad you enjoyed it there and that you were reminded of it...

Thank you.

The Devil's Advocate was a fantastic movie and I had plum forgotten about it. Thanks for reminding me of it. I'm going to pop on over to my Netflix account at once and add it to my queue. I usually don't like to watch movies more than once, but there are a few. This one is worth watching again for sure.

msorensson profile image

msorensson 6 years ago Author

These are the points I had learned...

Kevin never lied...in the whole movie...

His wife had perception, she was not insane, and he ignored it...that is so sad.

But then again, his saving grace was..love and it is true.

There is no power in this universe greater than love. I hope you enjoy it the second time around.

Thank you Springboard.

Morensson, Thank you for the recommendations. The devils’ advocate is a great choice, I think it gives a great illustration of how the devil tries to assimilate himself into your life and brings division. Attempting to control and manipulate situations around you… Keanu’s wife was as you say very “perceptive’ not insane but he was blinded by his ambition. Great observation about "His saving Grace" A lot to learn from this movie about spiritual warfare…

The Ten Commandments remains a favorite of mine since I was a child….

I must say I have only seen tidbits of “Lord Of The Rings” but I think perhaps I will give the series a try along with the Dune series…. You have piqued my interest! Thank you for sharing, Peace & Blessings!

msorensson profile image

msorensson 6 years ago Author

On many layers it is a great movie. The cast was phenomenal and if one really, really looks, one would see that in the whole movie, Keanu Reeves never lied...a great tribute to his mother's upbringing.

Thank you, DeBorrah. Many blessings.

Hello Msorensson,

I really was surprised by your choices. Thank God. LOL.

I love The Lord Of The Rings. I watched the triology way too many times, and I just love them more each time. You are correct the story telling is Great, and cast? Wow. I loved them. Talented people.

Okay, I really am stunned by the Devils Advocate as a choice, but to be honest I seen it myself at least three times. So why am I stunned? LOL.

I frst saw Dune, the movie, almost thirty years ago. It was hard to get into for the first hour.

I never saw the cable version, my baby brother had, and like you he is a doctor so Scifi maybe ingrained into each of you more than most of us. LOL. My baby brother talks about the production, even the audio books on Dune. That is one story he is crazy about. LOL.

You are right, the music is great. I am listening to it as I write my comments to you. My son likes it too.

I will be reading more of your work, but this title really caught my attention. I love movies, and I was curious to your choices.

Nice Hub.

Yes, please do watch the PBS series of Dune. It is fantastic and very spiritual in many many levels. The author of the book was trying to teach us and the director did a superb job.

The Devil's Advocate is spiritual too as well as The Lord of the Rings.

If we open our minds, we will find the lessons.

Thank you for coming!!
