Here is my list of famous Latin American Teen and Childrens bands from the 1980s. Parchis, Magneto, Timbiriche, Menudo, Fandango, Los Chamos, and Los Chicos are just some of the most famous Latin American teen and Children's music groups that made teen music popular in the 1980s. I love all of these groups because they remind me of just how beautiful teen and children's music was in the 80s. My mom was lucky enough to be a teenager in the 80s and listen to all of these great young and talented Latin American artists.

1. Parchis

Parchis was a musical vocal children's group that made a significant impact both in Spain and Latin America from 1979 to 1985.

The Groups Early Years:

Parchis was started in Spain in 1979 by record label Discos Belter which is a record label located in Spain, hoping to break into the children's music market, with artists such as Enrique and Ana and the group Nins were entering a period of remarkable success and impact in Spain. Although the record label already had in mind a selection of children they still posted in a newspaper an ad to the public saying they were looking for talent in children, " were Discos Belter will provide children from eight to twelve who sing well and have a very good sense of rythm for a formation of a childrens group to make albums. Must come from 10 to 1 auditions are held everyday until July 15, preferably come with a song learned and memorized to Belter Records, c/Gomis, 1. Barcelona. "

The group that came up with the name of Parchis was the record producer, Parchis is a popular board game in Spain. It was planned that they will have four components that would wear the colors of the tabs on the game (red, blue, yellow, and green). However after the selection process provided to include a fifth member of the group, which claimed the role of the dice and white.

Finally after seeing many hopeful children at the auditions hoping to get into this new group they finally decide and choose five lucky kids to be in the group, they are: Tino Fernandez who remained in the group from (1979 to 1983), Yolanda (1979-1985), Gemma (1979-1985), David (1979-1984), and Oscar (1979-1981). They made their first television appearance in the Spanish program "Applauso" of TVE.

Their first album was a duble LP album that was released in December 1979 under the name "Las Super 25 Canciones de los Peques" (The 25 Super Songs of the Youngsters). As a result their debut album sold millions of copies and became an instant success. Their album featured such hit songs from English artists such as their Spanish version song from "In The Navy" by The Village People, "Gloria" which was originally sung by Umberto Tozzi, and even sang the Spanish version of The BeeGees hit song "Too Much Heaven" The album also featured their own songs such as "Mortadelo Y Filemon" (Mortadelo and Filemon), "La Cancion de los Parchis" (The Parchis Song), and "Ganador" (Winner).

Their first album became a bestseller and the musical group became famous. The popular children's group also had several successful movies starring the members of the group. Their first movie came out on December 19, 1980 called "The Children's War" their second movie "The Second War of the Children" which came out the following year (1981), their third movie "Fun with Parchis" (1982), their fourth movie "Parcheesi Comes into Action!" (1983), Parcheesi Agaisnt The Invisible Inventor" (1981), "The Magic of Parcheesi" (1982), and "The Great Adventures of Parcheesi" (1982).

To me this is one of the greatest late-20th Century Latin-American and European children's group. I don't know if my mom ever got to listen to their music or if she even knows about them. But I do, and even if i grow older throught the years I'll still love their deep, warmhearted, fun, and childish music.

Parchis- En La Armada (In the Navy)

Lyrics in English

This was originally a song by The Village People called "In the Navy" I love their version and Parchis's version.

"You have a great time, learning technology, discover treasures in the navy accomplish your dreams on land or at sea. You can study Science, aircraft pilot, sports practice, you can be technical or join a great football team. In the Navy, the seven seas you will travel , In the navy you will get new friends, you can see your big future in the navy, in the navy, in the navy, we will protect your homeland and in the navy, with your officer's uniform, in the navy, the girls you will dazzle in the navy, in the navy. Always adventures abound, and if you study you will soon be official, official go your way, this is your destiny, in the navy you will find it. You might think that you're still young, do not worry, as we wait, and we will help, and you shall be a sailor. In the Navy, the seven seas you will travel in the Navy, you will get new friends in the navy, your great future you will make, in the navy, in the navy, in the navy, we will protect your homeland and in the Navy, with your uniform of officer, in the navy, the girls you will dazzle, in the navy, in the navy. In the Navy, the seven seas you will travel in the Navy, you will get new friends in the navy, your great future you will create, in the navy, in the navy, en la armada, dress them in the army, the navy, the navy, we will protect your homeland and in the Navy, with your uniform of officer in the navy, the girls you will dazzle, in the navy, in the navy. "

Lyrics in English to Parchis Song Game of Colors

"Hello I'm the red chip

And I'm the blue tab

Hello I am a dice

Come on tell me who you are

I am the green tab

the yellow stays back

And everyone will dance to your rythm and beat

Parchis, chis, chis, Parchis, chis, chis

Is the game of colors that we sing for you.

Parchis, chis,chis, Parchis, chis, chis

Is the game that is sung for me and you

We are all very sad

The dice does not want to sing

For if the 5 do not sing

We cannot start

We do great races

to see who can win

But we have to be careful

because they can hunt you

Parchis, chis, chis, Parchis chis, chis

Is the game of colors that we sing for you.

Parchis chis, chis, Parchis chis, chis

Is the game that is sung for you and me

If you kill a fellow

You can count twenty

But if you come first

You will win the game

To save enough time

You will form a barrier

and until the 6 does not come

no one will move

Parchis chis, chis. Parchis chis, chis

Is the game of colors that we sing for you.

Parchis chis, chis. Parchis chis, chis

Is the game that is sung for me and you

If you get to the locker

You put inside one, two, and three

And in the fourth you become a winner

First comes the red

Then came the blue

Green is not clear

And yellow tururu

Parchis chis, chis. Parchis chis, chis

Is the game of colors that we sing for you.

Parchis chis, chis. Parchis chis, chis

Its the game that is sung for me and you."

2. Timbiriche

Their Early Year (1982-1984)

The super popular group was formed in Mexico in 1982. Composed of Sasha, Mariana, Alix, Paulina, Diego and Benny. In its early years it was a kids group similar to Parchis. But unlike Parchis, the members of Timbiriche remained into their teen, and young adulthood years singing in the group.

The group released two albums that contained child-oriented music. Their first album "Timbiriche" and their second album "La Banda Timbiriche" were both released in 1982. The albums included the classic hit songs: "Timbiriche," "Y La Fiesta Ya Comenzo," (And the Party Has Just Started), "Somos Amigos" (We Are Friends), "La Vida Es Mejor Cantando" (Life Is Better Singing).

They were a moderate success in Mexico, meanwhile the group saw another addition to their group, a boy named Erik Rubin in December 1983 for their fifth album Disco Ruido (Loud Disc) which was released in 1984 making the group of seven members instead of only six. In 1985 the group made a stage production of the teenage version of Grease (Vaselina) in Spanish and toured in major cities in Mexico becoming another success for the band.

Their Music Evolution (1985-1986)

By 1985 the group changed their music from child-oriented to mature music as proven in their sixth album Timbiriche Rock Show which included their hit singles: "Soy Un Desastre" (I'm A Disaster), "Corro, Vuelo, Me Acelero" (I Run, Fly, I Accelerate). However the group saw the departure of Benny from the group and welcomed Eduardo Capetillo into the group.

After promotion was ended for their sixth album, Sasha said farewell to the group and welcomed a new member, Thalia, however the band released a music video for their song "No Seas Tan Cruel Conmigo" (Don't So Cruel With Me) in 1986 in which Sasha appears in the music video.

"Were going to play

Were going to play

This new game

That we can invent

Were going to play,

Were going to play,

This new game

That we can invent.

Were going to fly

Were going to fly

By the new world

That we have just created.

Were going to fly,

Were going to fly,

By the new world

That we have just created.

Choir:

Timibiriche, Timbiriche

The dragon is real,

through the right i can look for it.

Timbiriche, Timbiriche

with a wizards cape

The dreams i'm going to chase.

That we can invent.

Timbiriche, Timbiriche

In the clouds of strawberries and cream

I can hang on.

Timbiriche, Timbiriche

In the train of laughter

And the games i'm going to hang on.

Lyrics to "Soy Un Desastre" (I'm a Disaster)

" Only a few days have passed

Everything has changed, with your farewell

There's dirty dishes, in the kitchen

and a sad dog, that doesn't forget you

Today I realized, how much I need you

And I ask myself, what would happen

if suddenly, you left

forever, out of my life.

I'm a disaster when you leave my house

In my closet I can't find my ties

"I'm a disaster and I don't understand what's happening

already tired of canned foods

I'm a disaster and without you I am lost

Your vacations spoil my feelings

I'm a disaster and I feel confused

I want to tell you to stop all the vagaries

I'm a disaster, I'm a disaster

I'm a disaster, I'm a disaster without you

I'm a disaster, I'm a disaster

I'm a disaster, I'm a disaster without you.

Today I realized, how much I need you

And I ask myself, what would happen

If suddenly, you left

forever, from my life.

I'm a disaster when you leave home

I'm a disaster without you."

Timbiriche- "Corro, Vuelo, Me Acelero" ( I Run, Fly, I Accelerate)

Lyrics of "Corro Vuelo, Me Acelero" (I Run, Fly, I Accelerate)

" Today I wake up without the sound of the clock the shock that gives me the thrill

Maybe I am opening a new heart

For me for you, for two.

I leave the bed with a quick jump

Turn on the radio to hear the rock

And I prepare myself to go look for you a coffee some jeans only

I run, I fly, I accelerate

To be with you

And start the game

And light the fire of love (fire of love)

(Repeat again)

Today every street looks much better

For my course takes direction

You appeared and my life changed

For you for me, for two...

And again I see you with the same emotion

With you my heart beats fast

Do not wake me if it is a dream of love

Let me sleep it is better...

I run, Fly, I accelerate

to be with you

and start the game

And light the fire of love (fire of love)

I run to be with you (with you)

I run, fly, I accelerate to be with you

And start the game

And light the fire of love (fire of love)

I run to be with you.

It's dawning

The clock wakes me up

To say that the dream is over

And the school is waiting for me

Without your love is the cruel reality...

I run, fly, accelerate

to be with you

and start the game

And light the fire of love (fire of love)

I run to be with you (with you)

I run, fly, I accelerate

to be with you

And start the game

And light the fire of love (fire of love)"

All Grown Up

Timbiriche Lyrics to "I Have To Tell You Dad"

Lyrics To I Have To Tell You Dad

" Today I have to tell you dad

The time will never change

we will always be together

all the time without stopping.

Today I have to tell you dad

I love you more than anyone

and when i'm by your side

all my fears have gone away

And sometimes when you come late at night

and sleepiness has won me

you're by my side, and you watch me sleep

and I feel happy.

I am going to grow up to your size

and the world I will see like you

I will understand you much more and better

and the life I will vanquish.

Today I have to tell you dad

the time will never change

we will always be together

all the time without stopping.

Today I have to tell you dad

I love you more than anyone

and when I am by your side

all my fears have gone away.

Timbiriche- "Juntos" (Together) 1985

Lyrics in English to "Juntos" (Together)

" From the universe we come to this planet,

traveling through all the constellations and stars

with only one language: the music!!!

We want to unite all the people.

We come singing, to sing to everyone:

Together!! Our voices will come far away from the sun.

Together! We always go together.

Come sing with us.

Always everyone together.

We come to stay forever.

We're always together.

Make together a harmony.

Always, everyone together.

We've arrived and we're here.

Together, we can create a whole new world.

And by the nights, look together at all of the cosmos.

We are young, we will vanquish.

Together, we always go together.

Come sing with us.

Always everyone together.

We arrive to never leave.

We always go together.

Make together a harmony.

Always, everyone together.

We arrived and we're here.

Together, we always go together.

Come sing with us.

Always everyone together.

We have arrived to never leave (together).

We always go together.

Come sing with us.

We have arrived to never leave.

We always go together.

We always go together."

Hello how are you do you want to dance

Halo of love and supernatural

Hello how are you my great theaf

No matter how much you don't want it to.

Babanana ba ba dance

Until I can't with my feet

Babanana ba ba dance

sweet veangance

In spiral of vertigo.

By the light of the candles

Opens up its power

Pure honey, with cinnamon,

Knows the girls much better

Travels better directly trough the delta

I fly during the night in my hidroairplane

Through the mines of the King Salomon

Hyperactive explorer."

I've been getting on an airplane

I've already arrived to New York

I've bought myself a guitar

I'm going to dream, how beautiful it is to act

and sing this song

beside Olivia Newton-John.

Uh, uh

Uh, uh, uh uh

Uh, uh, uh

I'm going there to succeed

I'm going to be Superman

I'm going there to succeed (I'm going to the USA)

I'm going to be Superman (I'm going to the USA)

I'm going to the USA

today my heart lifts high

I'm going to the USA

I'm going to see Uncle Tom

I'm going to the USA

I'm going to dream.

I'm going to the USA

today my heart lifts high

I'm going to the USA

I'm going to see Uncle Tom

I'm going to the USA

I'm going to dream."

Voted up and interesting. Thanks for sharing. Only two I already had heard about were Fandango and Menudo. Passing this on.
