My Movie Hubs

Updated on December 22, 2011

You won’t see The English Patient on this hub and you certainly won’t see anything based on a Nicholas Sparks novel. No, the movies listed on this hub are unashamedly low-brow, action driven or just plain cool. They are the movies you often have to see alone because your girlfriend certainly isn’t seeing them with you. I’m talking about the Rambo and Predator shoot-em-ups, the profanity driven Tarantino swear-fests and the sporting underdog stories that are so cheesy it's ridiculous. There is also the meandering horde of zombie movies infecting our cinema screens lately and guilty-pleasure 80’s comedies like Airplane!

I love movies and I love writing about movies. Of course, when you hub about movies, it has to be passion-driven, because you certainly won’t make much money doing it. The money-making hubs must be on topics that attract more advertising revenue than b-movie tributes.

Here are the movie hubs I have written, broken down into genre. If you enjoy reading these hubs, why not get hubbing yourself? It’s fun, easy and free. If you do it right apparently you can even make a little money doing it, but if that’s your motivation I would suggest writing about something more profitable than movies – Click here to write your own hub!

Actor and Director Tributes

Tarantino Movies
Tarantino Movies have been bridging the gap between cult classic cinema and mainstream entertainment since Quentin Tarantino burst onto the screen with Reservoir Dogs in 1992 and Pulp Fiction in 1994.

Dennis Hopper
Hollywood rebel and legend Dennis Hopper died aged 74 on May 29, 2010 at his home in Venice, California due to complications from prostate cancer. To younger movie audiences he was probably best known as the villain in Speed (1993) opposite Keanu Reeves.

Thrillers

Shutter Island Review

Shutter Island hit the cinemas back in February 2010, and has now been released on DVD. It is best described as a psychological thriller, although the trailers would have you believe there is a healthy dose of horror too.

The Town

"There are over 300 bank robberies in Boston every year. Most of these professionals live in a one-square-mile neighbourhood called Charlestown." This embellished quote from The Town trailer sets the scene for a fun, well crafted Boston crime movie.

Action Movies

The Green Hornet

The Green Hornet is well into his ninth decade of being a supporting player in main stream pop culture, despite perhaps never reaching the heights of his more illustrious counterpart, Batman.

Rocky Balboa: The Quotes, the Montages. The Best Series of Movies Ever

If they gave an award for being the heart tugging epitome of a sporting underdog story, instead of just Oscars, then that award would be shaped like Rocky Balboa. This Rocky movie hub will give new viewers a little insight into the series.

Comedies

Adam Sandler Movie List. Unfortunately they dont give Oscars for flawlessly portraying flawed characters prone to loud bursts of anger. If they did Adam Sandler would have about ten. What they do give actors with that sort of talent is money, lots and lots of money.

Airplane! Celebrates 30 Years. Released in 1980, the movie Airplane!, otherwise known as Flying High!, has now celebrated 30 years of being rated as one of the funniest movies of all time.

Science Fiction and Horror

Predator Movies. The original Predator film was released in 1987 and at the time actually received mediocre reviews. However, an entire generation in their formative years were consumed by it and were immune to snobby critics who put it down.

Predators Review. As mentioned on the Predator Movies hubpage, Predators was released in 2010 and produced by Robert Rodriguez and directed by Nimrd Antal. Predators looked to be to Predator what Aliens was to Alien.

Zombie Movie List. The naughties (2000 - 2010) saw a stumbling, moaning, decomposing horde of zombie movies descend upon cinema. In fact, well over 400 movies between 2000 and 2010 could have been considered a zombie movie. This hub lists all the zombie movies released between 2000 and 2010, including the recent hit Zombieland.

Top 10 Zombie Movies. From the Zombie Movie List hub we know that there were over 400 zombie movies released between 2000 and 2010. Unless you are a hardcore zombie fan then that is too many films to ever watch. This hub lists the top ten zombie movies to be released over the last fifteen years.
