My top 8 tv series
I have always preferred watching series to movies because they are longer and get you more intrigued as you watch them. Frankly speaking, i believe i have watched more 50 series ranging from heroes to Dexter but for me there are 8 series that stand out as being simply fantastic. They can get you stuck to your screen for hours and you would always be first on the line when they come out on Dvd's or blue ray. Most of them( if not all) have been completed so you can get the chance to go through all the seasons
N.B it is arranged in order of preference
HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER
How I Met Your Mother is an American sitcom that was premiered on CBS on September 19, 2005. It is basically about five best friends that experience relationship challanges and how they deal with their problems. The main character in the show is Ted Mosby(Josh Radnor) who is shown in the year 2030 recounting to his son and daughter the events that led to his meeting their mother. It also follows Ted alongside his friendsLily Aldrin (Alyson Hannigan), Marshall Eriksen (Jason Segel), Robin Scherbatsky(Cobie Smulders), and Barney Stinson (Neil Patrick Harris).
I can garantee you that there is no series known to man that is funny than this series. My favourite character in this show is Barney because of his promiscuous ways and the relation rules in "the bro code" he always talk about. You also have Ted and his spree of unsuccessful relationships. When i started watching this series, i could not stop myself and ended up finishing the 6 seasons in less than 2 weeks
EVERYBODY HATES CHRIS
This is a comedy sitcom that portrays the childhood experience of Chris Rock(who also directs the show and can be heard narrating it). The teen Chris Rock role is played byTyler James Williams, who to me does a very fantastic job. Terry Crews plays Julius(Chris' father) who is levelheaded and easygoing; but worrisome, pessimistic.Tichina Arnold protrays Rochelle, the short-tempered, ghetto-snobbish and humorously sassy mother. She is also known to make overly exaggerated threats. Then there is Drew, played by Tequan Richmond, the 2nd child who is way cooler and more popular than Chris. Finally we have Tonya, played by Imani Hakim, the spoiled, smart-mouthed, immature youngest child and the antagonist of her older brothers
One thing i like about this series is how they are successful in portraying the college humor aspect that other shows fail to do. The situations where Chris indicates he is the black one in the school and the scenarios attached to this sets this series aside from the rest. Also the over exaggerated situations portrayed in this series ( like Chris being told he would be smacked into next week) keeps you laughing for hours or even days. One character that also interests me in this series is Ms. Vivian Morello, Chris' naively racist teacher how make racist statements in her bid to help Chris out. No comedy spree is complete without watching this series.
BIG BANG THEORY
Big Bang theory is also an American sitcom .The show centers around two socially-awkward science geniuses and physicists , Leonard Hofstadter( played by Johnny Galecki) and Sheldon Cooper (played by Jim Parsons); and their new female neighborPenny (played by Kaley Cuoco). They also have two friends who are equally as socially awkward as they are: Howard Wolowitz ( played Simon Helberg) a Jewish aerospace engineer and Rajesh Koothrapali ( played by Kunal Nayyar) a particle astrophysicist. I should also point out that they work at the same place.
What makes this series interesting is how Penny tries to blend with the geeks and their awkwardness but fails to match their intellectual capability . Also in series, Leonard is truly an annoying fellow who drives everyone crazy with his ignorance of socially and desire to expatiate on certain very, very irrelevant points. Then there is a Raj and the selective mutism he encounters while around women. This is series that would interest you regardless of whether you understand science or not
This is an American science fiction series. The story revolves special people around the world that have superpowers and their day to day experience. But these people with diverse personalities end up coming( though involuntarily for some) together for the good of the world and to fight an evil that hunts them.Four season have been created with the season final released on 2010.
For me this series emulates the aesthetic style and storytelling o comic books, using short, multi-episode plots that build upon to form a larger, more encompassing plot. My best character in this series is Sylar (played by Zachary Quinto) the nemesis who is hunting down and extracting the powers of these 'special people'( killing them in the process though). This is must watch for everyone regardless of whether you like science fiction or not.
This is an American series( seriously why do American's make the best series?), based on the life of Superman when he was younger, focusing on his life in high school. The series like heroes has also been completed with 11 seasons made between 2003 and 2011. The main character in the series is Clark Kent ( played by Tom Welling) a young man with super abilities, who tries to find his place in life after discovering he is an alien. We also look at his day to day activities and how to try to blend his super powers with his social life. At the same time, he also tries to hide his identity from others especially his friends
I have had the opportunity to complete the 11 seasons but the truth is you don't really have to start all the way from season 1 to understand the story. As a matter of fact, I started from season 7 before go backwards and then i watched the other seasons after 7
This an American comedy-drama television series. It revolves around the lives of 3 black American football players that are friends and how their female companions interact on day to day bases. In the series, we have Melanie Barnett (played by Tia Mowry) is a first-year medical school student who has given up an offer of admission to Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore to follow her boyfriend Derwin Davis (played by Pooch Hall), a professional football player, to San Diego. There is alsoTasha Mack (played by Wendy Raquel Robinson), the mother of Sabers' starting quarterback Malik Wright (played by Hosea Chanchez), and Kelly Pitts (Brittany Daniel) .
This is truly fantastic series where you get to experience the twist and turns of the women's lives of their lives as sport moms and how they cope with each other.
This is an American drama series. It revolves around the lives of two brother: Lincoln Burrows ( played by Dominic Purcell) an innocent man who is sent to death row for a crime he is falsely accused of, and his brother Michael Scofield (played Wentword Miller)who makes it his mission to deliberately get himself sent to the same prison in order to break the both of them out from the inside out. We also get to meet toFernanado Sucre( played by Amaury Nolasco) who is imprisoned at Fox River State Penitentiary for aggravated robbery and was Michael Scofield's cellmate
Michael in this series is a truly brilliant man with his escape schemes and the manner he is able to break out of prisons that are considered unbreakable. My favorite character in the series though is Gretchen Louise Morgan (played by Jodi Lyn O'Keefe) who comes in the 3rd season but is known for her evil plots
This is an American police procedural television series. It follows the story of Patrick Jane(played by Simon Baker) who, as a paid consultant, uses unorthodox methods to aid the California Bureau of Investigation in homicide investigations. He was an ex- psychic who left the business after a serial killer known as Red John kills his wife and child after Jane claimed to use his psychic powers to know the identity of Red John.He works in the agency with Senior Special Agent Teresa Lisbon( played by Robin Tunney ), a Senior Special Agent with the CBI and leader of the team Patrick is part of, Special Agent Kimball Cho( played by Tim Kang) a Special Agent with the CBI, Special AgentWayne Rigsby (played by Owain Yeoman ) and Special Agent Grace Van Pelt( played by Amanda Righetti); the newest member of the team.
The interesting about this series is how Jane solves cases brilliant and how it almost seems like Jane is the one doing all the work. He also goes through the job with and lacks the restrictions imposed on his colleagues as he is only a consultant
