New DVD Releases for November 2010

November is here and so is another exciting month of new DVD releases. Not only are there plenty of new movies featuring in the new DVD releases but also some old classics which have been tarted up and reissued ready for Christmas. And talking of Christmas there are a few new Christmas movies starting to show up in the new DVD releases for November. So here is the crop of the new DVD releases for the first half of November and there are some great ones to add to your collection or buy as stocking fillers ready for Christmas.

Toy Story 3 (Four-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo + Digital Copy) (2010)

With Andy getting ready to head off to college, Woody, Buzz and the whole gang find themselves at the prey of sticky fingered tots as they are donated to the Sunnyside Daycare centre. Although happy to be being played with once more it soon becomes apparent that not is all right and so they must join forces with help of Barbie's boyfriend Ken and a few other toys and try to escape.

This month also sees the release of Toy Story Trilogy (10-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo + Digital Copy) (DVD Release Date: November 2, 2010) which not only features all 3 movies but a whole wealth of bonus material, brilliant for anyone who wants to know what goes on behind the scenes when it comes to not just the Toy Story movies but other Pixar creations.


The Sound of Music (45th Anniversary Edition) (Two-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo in Blu-ray Packaging) (1965)

The hills are alive with Julie Andrews as the classic The Sound of Music is released on Blu-Ray for the 45th anniversary. Maria is having a troublesome time at the convent when she finds herself being sent to work as a governess to Navy captain George Von Trapp who after his wife died needs someone to care for his seven children. Fastidious about how his children are raised Maria and the Captain fail to hit it off but as his children become close to their new governess tensions soften and a romance blossoms. But with Austria coming under the control of Germany it maybe difficult for the Captain, Maria and the children to stay together.

The Goonies (25th Anniversary Edition) [Blu-ray] (1985)

Anyone who was a teenager in the 80s will have heard of The Goonies, in fact they've probably watched it and now 25 years after it hit the big screen it is now re-released on Blu-Ray.

Mikey and Brandon Walsh are preparing to move away as developers want to build on the house their family live in and their parents stand no chance of raising the money to stop it from happening. But whilst playing in the attic with their small group of friends they discover an old treasure map and set out on an adventure to discover "One-Eyed" Willy's hidden fortune. But before they start they have a problem as the entrance to where the treasure lays is beneath a house where Mama Fratelli and her criminal sons are held up.

Although unemployed 23 year old Scott Pilgrim is rolling along quite nicely. He plays bass guitar in a garage rock band and is dating Knives Chau, a cute 17 year old. But when he meets Ramona Flowers all that changes as he falls for her and discovers that she has baggage, that being 7 ex boyfriends who between them control Ramona's love life. If Scott is going to find love with Ramona he must defeat all her exes in the process.

Charlie St. Cloud (2010)

But when a young girl enters Charlie life he has a decision to make, keep his promise to Sam or go after the girl he has feelings for.

Golden Girls: 25th Anniversary Complete Collection

The Golden Girls may have debuted in the UK in 1986 but it was in 1985 that the wonderful sitcom about 4 previously married women living together in Miami first aired and to mark the 25th anniversary all 7 series have been released in one special edition box set. So that is 180 episodes of comedy from Bea Arthur, Betty White , Rue McClanahan and Estelle Getty plus a whole plethora of bonus material.

Avatar (Three-Disc Extended Collector's Edition + BD-Live) [Blu-ray] (2009)

Love it or loathe it I doubt there are many who haven't heard about James Cameron's record breaking Avatar. Now on this Blu-Ray release you have 3 version of the movie, yes that is 3, the Original Theatrical Edition, the Special Edition Re-Release and a Collector’s Extended Cut with 16 additional minutes. If that wasn't enough to make you salivate there are two discs of bonus material which include deleted scenes, production features and much more. Although it's worth knowing that this Avatar box-set does not contain the 3D version of the movie.

Disney's A Christmas Carol (Four-Disc Combo: Blu-ray 3D / Blu-ray / DVD / Digital Copy)

In this animated retelling of Charles Dickens' classic novel Ebenezer Scrooge is awoken on Christmas Eve by ghosts who reveal to him that his life is sad, that he wasted his youth and unless he changes his ways the miserable fate which fill befall him. Faced by the harsh reality Scrooge must decide what will happen in the future, will he find happiness and redemption or continue on his miserable ways to a sad lonely death.

The Kids Are All Right (2010)

It may be only just hitting the cinemas in the UK but The Kids Are All Right will be out on DVD in the stated come mid November.

Long term lesbian couple Nic & Jules live in Los Angeles with their teenage children Joni, who is preparing to head off to college, and younger brother Laser. Despite seeming to spend his days not doing much Laser wants to track down their father, the anonymous sperm donor, but because he isn't yet old enough he talks Joni into helping him. Their endeavours lead them to Paul a gardener and restaurateur who agrees to meet them.

Mrs Miracle (2009)

Widowed father Seth Webster is struggling to bring up his twin boys Judd and Jason. They aren't bad children rather a bit unruly and as such every nanny that Seth employs seems to follow the previous one out of the door. That is until the mysterious Mrs. Merkle turns up and despite Judd and Jason calling her "Mrs Miracle" she manages to bring calm to the household as the live in nanny. But who is the mysterious Mrs. Merkle.

That is just the cream of the crop when it comes to new DVD releases for the first half of the November.
