Northern Lights over Teepees - Awesome Photos

These photos of Northern lights over Canada were sent to me by a friend and had to share with everyone!

I have never had the privilege of being in the midst of a Northern Light atmospheric phenomena, but I know that if I were ever to experience the earth suddenly taking on these beautiful dancing colors, and knew for a fact it wasn't a natural disaster or radiation, my eyes would probably get wet, and I would gasp in experiencing such awesome natural beauty!

Northen Lights- Yellow Knife, Canada

Taking a deep breath and admiring the natural beauty!

So, peaceful...

Perfect for a postcard!

A combo of different dancing lights...

Pretty majestic...

Wish I was there...

Nebulas - nature's wonders hidden from many

This hub has awesome photographs and great descriptions!

Nebulas - nature's wonders hidden from many

Comments from the sender of these photos: This is a fire rainbow- the rarest of all naturally occurring atmospheric  phenomena.

The picture was captured this week on the Idaho/Washington border. The event lasted about an hour.

Clouds have to be cirrus, at least 20K feet in the air, with just the right amount of ice crystals and the has to hit the clouds at precisely 58 degrees.

One more wonder photo from another source...

Another set of Northern Lights phenomena inspired a meditation a few weeks ago, which is part of a set that I have created and will be published soon. Thought, I would share this too!

Life can be a source of wonder, I am open to more!

A Feast for The Eyes...

Have you ever been privileged in seeing the Northern Lights in person?

Wow! So beautiful. It is one of my big fantasies to live in the NW Territories but it is so expensive up there and you have to be a nurse or something useful to make it, which I'm not. Still, so beautiful. Thank you for sharing these.

Yikes! Just corrected typos, didn't see them  last night, when I published the hub; teaches me to wait, rest my eyes from the computer before I publish anything. ;)

Jerilee: I will also get a pup tent, sleep in the back of a car if I have to, I just wanna see the dancing lights!

CRiter: "Dancing spirits in the sky", ooooh, I like this! I feel a poem coming up.

Dottie: Thanks for your support, its been fun creating the cards, but I was telling sis, that as easy as it looks, it does take work to find the right words and photographs.

KCC: Looks like there are many of us who would enjoy seeing these gifts from Nature. :)

G-Ma: I have never camped, wonder what its like. I can imagine looking at the stars must be awesome.

Thanks for your comments.

what an incredible sight! i saw the northern lights once, a rather subdued version, sort of like pale white curtains billowing slowly in the sky...we all froze at the unexpected treat, every hair on my body stood on end...i cannot imaginge seeing northern lights as you have pictured, i'm afraid i'd go into some kind of seizure or rapture

VioletSun profile image

Jewels: I know what you mean, I am open to experiencing it in this lifetime. Must be magical!

Nasizh: No problem, thank you! I will link your hub to this one, once you publish it.

Dolores: LOL! When I was typing my reply to Jewels, I had not yet read your comment, and was about to say, "I think I would cry, if I am ever in the presence of the Northen Lights." My eyes got wet just reading your experience! I think I too would go into some kind of rapture and such.

I love watching Norther Lights! I have only seen them a few times in my life, but they are worth standing in the cold for hours. I first got to see them when I was 12. The lights shot red, green, blue and white stripes toward the North star for over an hour.

VioletSun profile image

VioletSun 7 years ago from Oregon/ Name: Marie Author

Hi, Ripplemaker: Good to see you! Say "hi" to Daisy for me. :) If you and I ever get to see the Northern Lights, I am sure we would be taking pictures after pictures. What a memory this would be!

Christa: Oh, you you are so blessed to have experienced them! I can almost see the red, green and blue and white stripes in my mind's eyes, and its a pretty picture.

Thanks for reading and adding your comments!

Yes I will. Daisy's internet is down since yesterday..and we just got back from our Siddhartha musical play so schedule was pretty hectic. Oooh that would be lovely VioletSun. How is your website coming along? :-)

VioletSun profile image

Ripplemaker: It's almost completed, but the printing of the actual meditation cards is on hold as Phil is busy designing a website for a friend, and he is the one that knows how to do the printing professionally; I am all thumbs when it comes to this side of the creative arts. LOL! So, in the meantime, I have been focusing on inner work.

I hope things went well with the Siddhartha musical play!

Lovely photos. About 3 yrs ago, we had a strip of the green northern lights in northern Franklin County, Ohio (central part of state) and additional colors up in Saginaw, Michigan. The radio announcers were telling about them every 5 minutes. Once in a long while, they appear down in these lattitudes. i wish we'd had more.

Ripplemaker: Great to hear that things went well with the Siddhartha musical. Maybe you and Daisy will share photos one day. ;)

Dreadman 6 years ago

It's photoshop enhanced pictures. The Northern lights do look like that but not as vivid and they are very hard to photograph because even your eyes need time to adjust to see them clearly, a Camera can never do them justice unless you go into Photoshop and enhance the image.

VioletSun profile image

VioletSun 6 years ago from Oregon/ Name: Marie Author

Dreadman: Are you serious?! Its a shame if its photo enhanced photos and not the real thing! I shared what I thought is real. :(

VioletSun, these are beautiful. I'm so glad that your friend sent them to you and you shared them. I have lived in Alaska (Fairbanks) for almost 4 yrs and every winter we would have the privelage of seeing the N.Lts. They are beyond description-a holy experience. Viewing these made me homesick to see them again.

I've never seen the rainbow-surely God's miraculous artwork.

But, I have seen the dancing lights in colors besides the irridescent green/white. I loved the red. I saw those less often.

Wow, just blew me away seeing them with the teepees in the snow. Did not surprise me that it was as far north as Yellow Knife.

agvulpes profile image

Hi VioletSun how are you going?

I love these photos and in my opinion the only manipulation of the images would have been no more than what would have been done in the old fashion dark-room.

A bit of "burning-in" here a "dodge" there!

After all the viewer does want to experience the same sensations as the people who were actually experiencing this near spiritual natural occurrence.

Btw: I have seen what is termed the 'Southern Lights' or officially called 'Aurora Australis' on a very odd occasion but alas they are nowhere near as spectacular as the Northern Lights or "Aurora Borealis" in your images that are enhanced with the inclusion of the Teepees. A beautiful Hub :-)

VioletSun profile image

VioletSun 6 years ago from Oregon/ Name: Marie Author

Agvulpes: I am doing good thank you! :)

The thought occurred to me just now, that a few of the readers who left comments and who have experienced the Northen Lights, didn't express that the photos were photoshopped, so it must match their experience or they were too polite to say anything. :) Haven't heard of the Southern Lights, must be beautiful too. Good to see you!
