"Oh, Captain, My Captain!" "What Will Your Verse Be?" - a Poem in Honor and Memory of Robin Williams
Oh Captain! My Captain! What Will Your Verse Be?
Oh Captain! My Captain! What will your verse be?
Will you hide your pain or make a choice
To drop the fear and find your voice?
And share the real that's in you--
Laughter and even darkness..
Will you awake out of your stupor?
Awakenings in us never thought
Brought to life by one who fought
Even if only for a glimpse of time
and back to comatose.
Will you make a difference?
The doctor with the Bozo nose
Infectious laughter. None else came close.
Patch Adams with the healing heart,
making life bearable.
Will you dream? And achieve?
What dreams may come when we allow
perhaps not knowing why or how
Believing the magic is out there
finding our own dear Ann..
Unmatchable, unbeatable, except by his own hand
We loved him, the comic, the dreamer, the man
Who spent all his verse
With much more to say..
What will your verse be?

Oh, Captain, my Captain, stand on a chair!
Let the whole world know that you’re there.
No hiding your soul allowed.
Take the dare!

Heal
Believe
Stand
