Today with 102 years old...

... he is still working and he is the Portuguese film director with more awards. Since 2001, he is the oldest director in the world who is still active, and remains one of the most influential film makers in Europe.

"The Strange Case of Angelica" (O estranho caso de Angelica) is the last film he directed so far and as strange as you can imagine he still have more projects in mind!

I can tell you, he is like the Oporto wine: "He only gets better, improving year after year!".

Hi FilmLover, thanks for the heads up. I would not remembered to come here if you didn´t comment today. It´s really amazing to see how vital and charismatic he still is after 100 years of live. I was listening to the radio news this morning on the way to work and I heard Manoel de Oliveira talking about the way he feels about the cinematography industry and how he believes he´s only a leaf on the big tree of film directors. It´s very nice to hear such a modest comment coming from such a great director.

I wish Mr. Manoel de Oliveira lots of health, happiness and much more years to keep showing all of us the joy of living.

Thank you!

Great hub. An inspiration to those of us who are feeling pretty old, and are about 30 or 40 years younger than him.
