Orchids are Beautiful

I love orchids. Orchids have been a curious flower to me for some time. They seemed way "out of my league" for so long. Things sure have changed over the years. Now orchids are more accessible to more people than ever before, and I think that is a wonderful thing! It also turns out that orchids are not always super difficult to grow. This also is a great thing for flower gardeners everywhere.

As of right now however, I still have yet to own my own orchid. This has not kept me from wanting to keep on photographing one of nature's finest flowers, however. I am a lover of flowers of all kinds, and orchids are of course on that list.

Even though I stated that they are more accessible and affordable for people now more than ever, I am very much in awe of these little wonders of nature. Orchids are like just one of natures little works of art, in the form of a flower. The colors and designs have many ranges.

This hub is a photo gallery of orchid photos that I took both last year and some more recently. I can admit that I don't know much about these orchids, but I can tell you that I am very impressed by the flowers themselves and love to look at them. Often, they are very fragrant as well, which is another thing that I love about orchids. To the orchids that smell pretty, I am even more amazed, as if they needed yet something else to make them the show stoppers they already were!

I will number the photos, in case you want to share with me your favorite orchid that you see here, if you have another comment or question. Don't forget that often you can click on an image and it will be shown a bit larger. If you are like me, you love to see the details! Also, don't forget to note that a couple of the photos have an a couple of thumbnails next to them. There are some pretty orchids there as well, that you won't want to miss, and those all will be numbered also.

Thank you for stopping by my hub which showcases orchids with multiple colors in the flower itself. That is the theme here, multi colored orchid flowers. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do, and that you might keep your eye out for orchids in your own area.

For me, the orchids that I get to view are often in conservatories, which I seek out wherever I go. These include the Colorado Botanical Garden, Missouri Botanical Garden in Saint Louis, the Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House, as well as Powell Gardens in Missouri. I want to make a point to mention the Climatron building, another building as well at the Missouri Botanical Garden. You have to look, but you often can find a pretty orchid or two or three there also.

The only other place I have seen orchids is in nurseries, gift shops and also the occasional store like Trader Joe's in Southern California. I purchased the most beautiful orchid there for my father on his birthday last year. He really liked it when I took it to him. For those without a green thumb, I have also noticed a number of nice silk plants that are orchids and they are very lovely as well.

Thank you for stopping by, and I hope you enjoy the orchid tour!

I'm not really much of a flower person, but found the picture interesting, and decided to check out your Hub. I really like photo 1 because the picture is so crisp, but my favorite is number three, because of its unique color scheme. Thanks for sharing, voted up and beautiful.

Hello Dmop, I am so glad you did stop to check out my hub. The photo number three that you mention does indeed have such a unique color scheme. I don't recall seeing that in a flower before, and its one of the things I love about orchids. I am glad the first photo caught your attention enough for you stop by, maybe especially since you aren't much of a flower person.

Thanks again for your comment and visit, it is much appreciated. :)

I just couldn't wait to see what beautiful flowers you were showing us now! The orchid is a favorite of mine. You know they grow wild in the rain forests in Costa Rica. It's amazing. We grow ground orchids here in S. Fl. I think those are ground orchids in your photo #7. Thanks for another beautiful tour. I voted you Up, etc.

Hi Mary! I am so glad you came to see my latest flowers and I am so happy you like orchids so much. I do too. I would LOVE to go to Costa Rica and see them growing in the wild. Florida is great for many reasons, but growing orchids is a new great reason that I don't recall hearing about before.

Thank for your comment, visit and votes, and so glad you enjoyed the tour! Have a good night Mary. :)

Wow - I really loved the first photograph of the orchid the best. I love taking photographs of these beautiful flowers. We went to an orchid garden on the island of Hawaii a few years ago and got some amazing shots. Rated up and beautiful!

My favorite bloom. If asked what kind of plant I would like to be, it would be an Orchid. I've tried raising them, but haven't mastered it.

Your hubs are always delightful. You have a treasure of photos.

Hello Ann, how neat to know it is your favorite bloom, and I can see why orchids would win in that category! I haven't even tried raising them, but hope to one day maybe.

Thank you for your kind words, thank you so much. :)

Orchids are fascinating and you bring these alive in your beautiful photos Ons'Snts. I am like you, I have always marvelled over their beauty, but I have never owned an orchid. I am not confident that I could get the conditions just right. I have been to Orchid shows here in Australia and I do understand the growers passion for them. I can't go past photos 1 & 4 as the flowers are just so exquisite and perfect. But I do love them all.

Awesome photography, thank you so much for sharing. My votes and best wishes to you and sharing on!

Hello Fennelseed, thank you very much. I agree, orchids are fascinating in so many ways. Lately, I have heard more people talking about how they are easy to grow! So maybe there is hope for those of us that never have grown them before.

It makes me happy you liked the photos, and I thank you for your comment and visit here. Have a wonderful weekend.

I also love orchids and I am lucky that for most of the year, I am in Asia. Because they are affordable here, I can place many of them in my home and the garden. We were in Naples, Florida last January and were able to buy one from Publix.

Hello Aesta, I think its great you have access to affordable orchids where you live. I recall being in California and seeing some more affordable than I can remember them being in the past. They make a nice gift to give to someone too. It would be great to put them a home and garden, as I think they are so beautiful. For me, I usually see them in gardens I go to, though my parents have grown some in the past. Thanks for your visit and comment.
