Paranormal Activity

This is one scary movie I will not forget

"Paranormal Activity" is by far, the scariest film I've ever freaking seen in my life. To explain what this film is about, it's essentially about a couple, Micah and Katie, that move into a suburban home. However, they are disturbed by an eerily demonic presence that haunts them late at night, when they try to sleep. Therefore, Micah decides to set up a camera inside their bedroom, to monitor the paranormal activity. However, what they find as they try to investigate this, eventually leads to one truly frightening experience. The images, in this movie, will haunt you long after it's over, as this movie guarantees nightmares. I remember when I first saw this film, I didn't know what to expect. However, after I saw it, I couldn't sleep well for days. Indeed, this was the first time, since I was about eight years old, that a film gave me nightmares. Feeling like a scared child again as the disturbing images, kept me up many nights. The cinematography is fairly simplistic, yet it gives the film added authenticity and realism. "Paranormal Activity" is one truly disturbing film.

The cinematography for the movie was shot in the same style of "The Blair Witch Project." Although unlike "The Blair Witch Project", where it doesn't necessarily show you the disturbing images that frighten the campers; leaving it up to the viewers interpretation to make the film scary. "Paranormal Activity" shows the viewer exactly whats haunting our young couple that makes it even more frightening as it seems almost too realistic, at times. Displaying various frightening images that leave little to the imagination, as it will creep out all those bold enough to see it.

As the images start off harmless and innocent as one could easily use logic to explain them. However, the images gradually grow to become more and more disturbing. As the images become more disturbing, the audience can't help but feel frightened.

I remember watching various films in the past like "The Exorcist" and "Ringu", that left chills down my spine when I watched them. However, I was always able to easily get them out of my mind after watching a few comedies, to calm down. Yet with this film, that was clearly not the case. As I tried to sleep that very night, I saw it. I kept waking up with various nightmares from this movie. Unable to sleep for days as I tried hard to convince myself what I saw wasn't real, but the way movie was shot, makes it hard to believe it wasn't. Never before since I was a child, that I ever felt this way about any movie until now. As "Paranormal Activity" will leave a lasting imprint on your psyche.

Indeed, "Paranormal Activity" is by far the scariest film I've ever seen. Displaying images that will haunt you long after its over. Do not watch this film alone as it will haunt and terrify all those that see it. By far, the most disturbing horror film ever made.

lol. Nah, i think you have the right idea already. Besides, the films are a lot more scarier once you recover after each one. lol. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the rest of the trilogy.

Thanks Steven for the recommendation. We're planning on watching the other two but I think I need to get over the first one first. Or maybe its better to get through all 3 of them and then recover once lol.

(Warning: Spoiler in this comment)

Wow, your lucky eric. I didn't have anyone sleeping next to me after I saw this movie, but even if I did, I don't know if I would've gotten anymore sleep. I remember when I first saw this movie that I would often find myself turning everytime i felt there was the slightest hint of a noise or presence for weeks. lol. You should definitely check out the other two whenever you get the chance, as they're both pretty good. I think the second one is arguably the scariest between the two if you ask me. Anyway, thanks for stopping by eric, and sharing your experiences with us, and I'm glad to hear your wife isn't possessed like the girl in the movie. lol

*Spoiler alert

I just saw the first one this past weekend. For the first half I was like "really? is this it? doors closing and creaks? this isn't scary." Towards the end though with the flour on the floor and the wife just standing staring at the bed for hours is what gave me the chills. I'm having trouble getting a good nights rest right now. I can go to sleep fine but I'll wake up in the middle of the night and can't get back to sleep due to how quiet it is. Luckilly my wife is still sleeping next to me instead of staring over me while I sleep ;)

anytime ralwus. I hope your wife likes the movie too, and thanks for stopping by.

I don't really care for this stuff, but once in awhile I enjoy it with my wife. She loves it but requires I be with her as she is a pussy and scares too easily. She watches all that gory stuff too and I hate that. I will have to rent this for her sometime. thanks for sharing. CC

hmmm..that's kind of funny. everyone I know in real life, that seen the movie, agreed with me that it was scary. I guess it depends on the social click we both hang out with, I guess. Oh well, to each their own. I will say this, "Paranormal Activity" is by far the scariest film I've ever seen.

Paranormal Activity seems to provoke extreme positions. Several people I talked to said it was a waste of money to see it. Personally I'm waiting for it to show up on cable. Intriguing review especially the bit about ", the images gradually grow to become more and more disturbing."

Okay, have to be honest...I really hate horror movies, especially the brain twisting types. I couldn't read past your first two sentences before feeling spooked. lol I'll pass on this one... ;)
