People Magazine's Sexiest Man Alive

So my friends and I were having a very very deep discussion about who should be the 2008 winner of People Magazine's Sexiest Man Alive. Once this discussion was started it was important to list the previous winners. And they are....

1985 Mel Gibson

1986 Mark Harmon

1987 Harry Hamlin

1988 John F. Kennedy, Jr.

1989 Sean Connery

1990 Tom Cruise

1991 Patrick Swayze

1992 Nick Nolte

1993 Richard Gere/Cindy Crawford Sexiest Couple

1995 Brad Pitt

1996 Denzel Washington

1997 George Clooney

1998 Harrison Ford

1999 Richard Gere

2000 Brad Pitt

2001 Pierce Brosnan

2002 Ben Affleck

2003 Johnny Depp

2004 Jude Law

2005 Matthew McConaughey

2006 George Clooney

2007 Matt Damon

2008 Hugh Jackman

2009 Johnny Depp

2010 Ryan Reynolds

Some of these covers I can truly remember especially the first issue with Mel Gibson, I was young but thought it was a great cover, I might have even kept it under my pillow (shh don't tell). One woman in our discussion group thought it was important to have more men of color on the cover since Denzel Washington was the only African American chosen to date. I know that there are a few people I would like to see on the cover that have not graced it as of yet, but I am not certain that they fit the criteria that People Magazine sets forth. So who should be this year's winner? Well here are a few of my suggestions and granted I chose from the African American community because like my friend I would like to see some diversity.

The ones I would like to see are....

Harry Belfonte

Billy Dee Williams

LL Cool J

Tyson Beckford

Boris Kodjoe

Morris Chestnut

Tyrese

Terrance Howard

Taye Diggs

Shemar Moore

Derek Jeter....

and the list goes on. I truly hope it is not a repeat we really need some new blood on the cover someone who is smoking hot and sexy. Any ideas?
