Phillip Phillips Crowned American Idol 2012: A Humbling Experience

Phillip Phillips was crowned American Idol 2012 on May 23, 2012 in a record-breaking vote casting of 132 million voters. Phillips won against runner-up 16-year-old Filipino, Jessica Sanchez. So why did Phillips win against an extremely talented singer like Jessica Sanchez, who has an urban souful sound like popular Grammy winners.

Even though Phillips has a sound that we are unfamiliar with, many people enjoyed his sound and his style. Singing isn't only about talent and skill, but it is also about character, who you are as a person. In the end, I believe that Phillip Phillips demonstrated all the components that a champion embodies.

Captured Your Heart

Phillip captured your heart with his smile, weird facial expressions, and raspy voice. Phillips takes you on a journey when he sings as he closes his eyes and he lifts his leg. He uses unforgettable body language. He is a natural entertainer.

Intelligent Phillip

As Phillips pursued his passion for singing and playing guitar, (well maybe not singing) because he says he doesn't sing all that well), he had earned his degree from Albany Technical College in Albany, GA. Perhaps college enhanced his musical career.

With all the demands of being an American Idol contestant, Phillips was unable to attend his college graduation. Posted on the college's website is a note of congratulations to Phillip Phillips. Albany Technical College is now on the map, thanks to Phillip.

Phillip Phillips immediate plans are to get medical treatment for his kidney stones. Phillips has been suffering from kidney stones throughout the Idol competition. Phillips' enormous passion, drive and persistence planted him in the winning seat.

Phillips went above and beyond the call of duty. Winning is not convenient. The road to victory is never easy, in fact, opposition is a sign that you are headed in the right direction. Every round probably got harder and harder.

Phillip Phillips will be 22 this year on September 20. I am sure this huge success will take him time to get used to. For now though, his family, friends and schools are joined to his sucess. With the support of Phillips' family, he will be able to navigate his career effectively.

Little Lainey doesn't Think Phillip Phillips Should Have Won

Had to include this video. Four-year-old Lainey let the world know that she was not pleased with the decision America made by selecting Phillip Phillips as their Idol for 2012. Lainey thought Jessica Sanchez should have won. She is probably expressing what some adults would do if they could get away with it.

Lainey's crying and whining has gotten her much attention. The video is actually kind of funny. The little girl is in no danger, she is simply downright honest about the way she feels. Tears streaming down her face, words of displeasure and pouting, make this an unforgettable video.

Though I like Phillip, I think Joshua Ledet deserved to be the American Idol. It is a singing contest but quirkiness seems to win every time. Great Hub!

Hello iamaudraleigh, Phillip's does have skills. He is a likeable personality also. Thanks for the votes.

The last Idol show was very exciting - many surprise guest, as Ryan Seacrest informed the audience before the show began.

It's good to know that character still counts for something these days. It should be considered in every competition. Glad the people saw this honesty in Phillips.
