Pretty Little Liars -- Does The Pierces Secret Video Hold Clues To Allison's Murder?

Updated on March 12, 2012

The Pierces recorded and made a music video for their song, Secret, before Pretty Little Liars existed and the show decided to use the song for the theme song of their show. They also appeared to employ some of the themes from the music video to the show.

For one thing, the character murdered in the Secret video is named, Allison. And as we know, Allison DeLaurentis is the character whose murder is the central focus of the PLL series. Catherine, in the video, tells Allison a secret and makes her promise to swear on her life that she won't tell. Apparently, Allison doesn't keep her word so Catherine murders her.

Another element the show employs is the opening shows corpse Allison's fingernails being painted and her hair being curled. In the video, after murdering Allison, Catherine starts painting Allison's fingernails and she's brushing her hair. And in one weird sequence it appears Catherine is trying to make Allison look just like her when she applies make-up to her and puts a blonde wig on her and the resemblance between the two is really uncanny.

The interesting thing is in a Pretty Little Liars' Halloween, Allison is telling a story to a little boy about these twin blonde little girls and that one of the twins killed the other. Which makes you wonder if it's possible that Allison really had a twin sister. Could the twin be alive and could she have been the one that killed Allison?

Also the part where Catherine goes to murder Allison she's singing, You swore you wouldn't tell. You swore you wouldn't tell. So in the video it seems Allison told Catherine's secret. So the question is, is that why Show Allison was killed, as well? Because someone told Allison their secret and thought she wouldn't tell, but she did? Allison was really someone you wouldn't want to know your secret, yet she seemed to have an uncanny ability to find out secrets. She found of Jason was really Peter's son long before Jason ever knew. She even dropped coy little hints to Spencer without coming out and telling her the truth. The question is just what other secrets to Allison learn?

The 15,000 Jason found in Allison's things suggest she might have been blackmailing someone over a secret she knew about them. It wasn't Peter, because both he and Veronica explained the money was to investigate Allison's disappearance because they were both worried Melissa had something to do with Allison's disappearance. So that leaves Allison knowing another secret and blackmailing someone to keep quiet. If someone had stupidly confided their secret in Allison and she blackmailed them when she needed money to find out who was text messaging her, the person whose secret she knew may have feared she would tell someone if they didn't make her take the secret to her grave. Got a secret. Can you keep it? Swear this one you'll save. Better lock it in your pocket. Taking this one to the grave. Allison even said to Emily in her dream, Two can keep a secret, if one of us is dead.

The problem is, with a blackmailer, once you start paying the, they keep coming back for more. Which is yet another motivation for killing your blackmailer. The only way to free yourself from a blackmailer and to keep your secret a secret, is to kill the blackmailer. When someone starts blackmailing you about your secret, that person can't be trusted to keep it.

Whatever the case, there are some interesting coincidences between the video and the series. As we're on the eve of A being revealed, it's the time to get in last minute theories. I guess the big question is is A the one who really killed Allison? I have to admit I don't think she is.

I think A was someone Allison was bullying and to fight back they started texting Allison to get back at her, because they didn't have the courage to face her head-on. I think tormenting Allison gave A a false sense of power and when Allison was gone, I think A missed it, and that's why she started targeting the Pretty Little Liars. The power A gets from tormenting people via text messaging has almost become an addiction.

If I'm right, and Mona is A, texting it's getting to not be enough for her anymore. She made it appear she was being targeted by A so the Liars would trust her. And, unfortunately, it worked and they now consider her one of them, and they're even taking her helpful hints on how to keep A a secret from their parents. Let's hope they don't start talking in front of her about their plans to unmask A.

So even if the Pills succeed in unmasking A, the identity of Allison's killer may still remain a secret, since I really doubt A is the one who killed Allison. A's a bully that hides behind a phone because A doesn't have the guts to bully her targets to their faces. That really doesn't sound like the type of person that would have the guts to kill Allison.

Here are the lyrics to Secret

Got a secret
Can you keep it?
Swear this one you'll save
Better lock it, in your pocket
Taking this one to the grave
If I show you then I know you
Won't tell what I said
Cause two can keep a secret
If one of the m is dead…

Why do you smile
Like you have told a secret
Now you're telling lies
Cause you're the one to keep it
But no one keeps a secret
No one keeps a secret
Why when we do our darkest deeds
Do we tell?
They burn in our brains
Become a living hell
Cause everyone tells
Everyone tells…

Got a secret
Can you keep it?
Swear this one you'll save
Better lock it, in your pocket
Taking this one to the grave
If I show you then I know you
Won't tell what I said
Cause two can keep a secret
If one of the m is dead…

Look into my eyes
Now you're getting sleepy
Are you hypnotized
By secrets that you're keeping?
I know what you're keeping
I know what you're keeping

Got a secret
Can you keep it?
Swear this one you'll save
Better lock it, in your pocket
Taking this one to the grave
If I show you then I know you
Won't tell what I said
Cause two can keep a secret
If one of the m is dead…

[spoken]
Alison?
Yes, Katherine.
I have something I want to tell you, but
you have to promise to never tell anyone.
I promise
Do you swear on your life?
I swear on my life

[end spoken]

You swore you'd never tell…
You swore you'd never tell…

You swore you'd never tell…
You swore you'd never tell…

Got a secret
Can you keep it?
Swear this one you'll save
Better lock it, in your pocket
Taking this one to the grave
If I show you then I know you
Won't tell what I said
Cause two can keep a secret
If one of the m is dead…
(chorus x 3)

Yes two can keep a secret
If one of us is…. Dead.
