Random Thoughts and Rants (#2 - Feb 26, 2013)

Goin once...Goin twice....SOLD!
Goin once...Goin twice....SOLD!

Okay, my latest and greatest “rant” of the week is once again, RIGHT out of the White House.

Apparently, it is an OKAY thing, to sell privileges to attend special WH meetings. Yep! For a mere donation of $500,000, you can sit in on a national advisory board for Mr. Obama’s group and have the privilege of attending quarterly meetings with the president, along with other meetings at the White House. HEY, but WAIT!!! Next month they are having a “Special”. For only $50,000, Our Community-Organizer-In-Chief is holding a “founder’s summit” at a hotel near the White House, where you have the opportunity to mingle with Mr. Obama’s former campaign manager, Jim Messina, and Mr. Carson, who previously led the White House Office of Public Engagement.

Now, THIS is exactly what Obama supposedly campaigned against back in 2008. I could go on and on…but, I am keeping this brief, perhaps this is hub all on its own.

Random (I mean random) Thoughts

You know, I think the power of prayer is WAY under-estimated!

Not as good as my Mama's
Not as good as my Mama's

I think home-made Chicken and Noodle and mashed potatoes may be my very favorite meal. Throw in some fresh green beans and a dinner roll, along with some apple pie!! WOW!

MUST SEE TV!!
MUST SEE TV!!

Have any of you been watching the “Walking Dead” on AMC? Holy Cow! What an intense Drama THAT is!! It may sound pretty goofy, but there is GREAT acting, GREAT writing and GREAT, GREAT make-up and special effects. It is based upon a comic book, but they really pull it off to make it about as realistic as it can be with the world being dominated by flesh-eating "walkers".

It had 12.3 million viewers for its mid-season three premiere to become the most-watched basic cable drama telecast in history.

Not in MY CITY!!
Not in MY CITY!!

Speaking of goofy…………I still have a hard time believing that NY Cities Mayor Goldberg has REALLY got a BAN on LARGE Sodas in pizza shops, bowling alleys, and Manhattan nightclubs effective March 12th!! I mean THAT is not just goofy, but it is really kind of scary when governments can dictate what size of soda you can drink……….WOW! Liberalism at its finest.

Sign of the Apocalypse
Sign of the Apocalypse

With all of the crazy weather, like the blizzards in Texas, hurricanes in Jersey. The Pope stepping down, the turmoil in the Middle East, meteors crashing into earth………….I think I am ready to go out on a limb and say with conviction that the THIS my friend is the YEAR the Cubbies are going to win it all!!!

Cubs WIN, Cubs WIN, Cubs WIN…….

Okay, maybe not…….but wait till next year!!

The old desert rat - Dusty Tibbs
The old desert rat - Dusty Tibbs

RIP Dusty!

To wrap up my segment, I got to say just how much I miss Dusty – 50 caliber – Tibbs. He has been on my mind lately. If you never had the privilege to get to know this guy, please go to his hub and check out his work. Dusty has moved on to be with his Lord and Savior. (Actually it has been a few months now) He was such a unique person, who had a heart as big as the whole outdoors. I was lucky enough to have shared some personal emails with Dusty over the last couple of years, and considered him a good friend. RIP Dusty!

I'm about due for a rant myself. Enjoyed yours, especially the eternal optimist in your rooting on the Cubbies. :) Good job Chris!

I suspect the "buy your way in" meetings are this administrations version of transparancy. Our President told us this is the most transparent administration in the history of this country, and this is his way of proving that. Perhaps the press forgot to pay their bill when he excused them from the meeting the other day? If I had $50,000 I could find a better place to spend it other than going to a meeting with this bunch.

I too miss our friend Dusty. He was one of a kind for sure, but you couldn't find a better friend.

Great rant my friend, keep it up.

I miss ol' Dusty too, Chris....he was always showing up at just the right time. I still expect to see him. As to the president selling access, my question is who the hell would want to go...especially if it cost a half million? Obviously Obama has the same whorish mentality that dominated the second half of the Clinton Era when the Chi-Coms were sleeping in the Lincoln Bedroom for cash. Obama will campaign and get every dime he can for his sick organization with it goal of destroying America as we know it. Anyone who contributes to that can live with the nightmares that will surely come from it all. Why not just send ol' George Soros, the marxist, a bag of your money...it will be used in the same fashion. ~WB

Chris - I read this and first thing I did was search for the video of Obama from years ago condeming what he is now doing - guess what I couldn't find it! but I found this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOY9fpU8o04 which I think is the only sound bite I've ever found of him actually telling the truth. :-)

So sad to hear about Dusty, I had a few discussions with him and he left the kindest comments on my hubs once coming to my defense. He will be remembered here.

Had to laugh, he actually NEEDS help to tell us the truth! lol

Dusty was a sweet, kind man.

Hey Mr. CM - good morning - hope all is well with you and yours. There you go once again - couldn't rant and rave once, you had to do it again :)

Well, I just can't let you and your approving friends dominate the conversation, so:

Obama - I'm hoping you bible thumping gun toting right wing folks will eventually tire of picking on him. I am not his biggest fan but boy was he a better solution than Willard!!!! I suppose it was okay for the Koch Brothers, Adleman and all the rest of the Republican billionaires to pour money into that disaster of a Willard campaign - I am so pleased they lost that money. I still sense an undertone of racism in some of the President's critics. Hmmmm

Power of Prayer - isn't that an oxymoron? Kind of like military intelligence, or plastic glass.

When is supper time? Save me a portion of each - especially the warm apple pie. Can I have a scoop of vanilla ice cream on mine?

Haven't seen "Walking Dead" so can't comment.

Sodas - kind of humorous the ban in NY - but then what isn't a bit distorted coming out of NY.

CUBS????? Go Rockies !!!!!!

The link offered above by tsadjatko is so obviously edited - or is that the joke?

I didn't know Dusty - sounds like my loss to not have known him.

Remember "Well done is better than well said" Benjamin Franklin

Hello RBJ!

Hey, I always welcome you and your responses.

You always make me smile in SPITE our different views on just a few issues....lol

I assure you there is NOT a smidge of racism with MY views on Obama.

That Ben Franklin had a bunch of good advice, didn't he?

I live in New Yorkl; maybe that's where such a poor outlook and bad attitude comes from. But the soda thing? I've got an idea, why don't people just make better choices? It's pretty sad the government has to treat us like children and tell us that we've "had enough"; okay daddy. Look at the health of this nation, a lot of us make horrible decisions and we're fattening our kids in the process. I'm quite disgusted about the whole thing. Great hub, I love my CMerrit.
