SOUL TRAIN MAN and Founder Don Cornelius Commits Suicide
Arguably the man who introduced to the American media and TV audience the Jackson 5 , a pop singing group, from where the legendary Michael Jackson who later took the world by storm came, has passed on at age 75.
Don Cornelius was the Founder and presenter of SOUL TRAIN. The show revolutionized the TV industry. This TV icon who was known for his charming and sexy voice, a mesmerizing personality and dance moves is alleged to have committed suicide in his home in Sherman Oak, California.
Police found his body at his house around 4AM with a suspected single gunshot wound to his head. Preliminary investigations revealed that the wound appears to have been self-inflicted. He was rushed to the hospital were he was pronounced dead.
Whatever caused him to take his own life?
Don Cornelius will be remembered as the man who revived the black entertainment in America and brought stars onto the international stage.
Soul Train was founded in 1971 and stayed strong until 2006.
Don Cornelius was said to be a very kind, sincere and intelligent man. However, it is believed that he was also a short tempered man. In 2008, Don was arrested for beating his wife. He pleaded no contest for a misdemeanor domestic violence charge and served a 3 year probationary sentence.
Two years later, he went through a brutal divorce that left him with ill health and frail. He told an LA Judge that he wanted to divorce his wife before he died. His divorce was granted in 2010.
Don Cornelius died at age 75.
