Sexy New York singer Margarita Shamrakov met Yoko Ono after winning the John Lennon songwriting contest
New York City
Sex seems to guarantee success with getting your articles seen here on Hub Pages so I thought I would introduce you all to my very talented friend Margarita Shamrakov who has a song on video on the subject. As you can see she also appears under the title 'SEXY' in one of her photos, and indeed, she most definitely is!
But there's a lot more to Margarita than her very pretty face and sexy body because she is a true artist. Margarita is a brilliant singer-songwriter and pianist with songs like New York City and Higher Ground. She once got to meet Yoko Ono after winning a John Lennon songwriting contest (but more about that later on). And she also paints and draws pictures with a very distinctive style as well as writing poetry. Margarita has made some very innovative videos too in which she stars, and I would think she would clearly make a fine actress.
All about Margarita Shamrakov
Margarita was born in the Ukraine in the city of Dnepropetrovsk to a Ukranian mother and a Jewish father and by the age of just five years old she began writing songs. When she was only 10 Margarita got accepted into the prestigious Music School Lisenka for gifted children, where she went on to study classical piano.
At just sweet 16 Margarita immigrated to America due to various circumstances, one of them being poverty. Margarita and her mother had no place to live - they had arrived with nothing but hope and a dream, and to make things harder she did not even speak English at that time.
Although Margarita was taken on for a badly paid job in a Brooklyn department store she found life in the land of opportunity extremely difficult indeed.
However, these days of hardship inspired her writing and much of her artwork reflects what she has lived through. Margarita has seen the loneliness and poverty that exist alongside the glamour and the wealth of the big city.

Winning the John Lennon Songwriting Contest
But despite all the odds, and true to the gifted artist she is, Margarita went on to win first place in The John Lennon Songwriting Contest, which is sponsored by Yoko Ono and BMI in the search for a top quality song. Margarita was thrilled to actually meet Yoko Ono as well as legendary music producer Arif Mardin.
Margarita has performed all over New York City in many venues including CBGB's Gallery, Luna Lounge, Symphony Space Bar, the 169 Bar and the Sidewalk Café.
Margarita has a CD album entitled Tragedy, of all her own songs and produced by multi-platinum engineer and producer Mike Anzel. She also has a selection of videos on YouTube if you would like to see more of Margarita and to check out her songs and live performance.
And you can see her collection of portraits at her other site for Margarita's Art at Myspace.
