Spring is here!

My Inspiration

Have you ever been inspired when reading a hub?

I'm sure you have, like me many times.

This morning I read a hub by Jackie Lynnley called I Saw Spring Jackie wrote a beautiful poem and her photos were an absolute treat!

Jackie had photographed some wonderfull plants in bud and some already flowering, I was so envious of the photos especially the Magnolia, I decided to go for a walk and see what I could find - was spring here?

It certainly looks like spring, the sky is blue and the sun is shining.

This Mornings Sunrise and Snowdrops

While out photographing the sunrise this morning, I was delighted to see snowdrops in the churchyard and decided I would come back and photograph them later.

Having read Jackie's hub, my first thought was of the snowdrops - so that was my first stop!

A Woodpecker and Crocus

After scrabbling around on my knees in the churchyard I walked down the lane. It was so quiet all I could hear was the birds singing. Suddenly I heard a new sound I stopped and looked around to see where it was coming from. It was quite loud and I can only describe it as a vibrating sound much like a branch creaking, it would last 2-3 seconds and then stopped, I was intrigued.

There above me at the top of a tree was a woodpecker, I was amazed the sound was coming from a bird, but sure enough every time he tapped into the tree the sound filled the air.

Walking on, I found these clumps of crocus growing at the side of the road, they looked so beautiful they made me smile.

Well I haven't seen any Magnolia but I did just spot this beautiful flower in someone's garden, fortunately it was close to the roadside, so I hoped they wouldn't object to me photographing it!

Fungus

The Fungus on this branch seems to have taken over completely. They reminded me of skirts worn by dancing girls as they twirled around!

The last few photos as I head for home. The Daffodils are looking a little tired after the frost at the weekend but they still brighten up the lane.

Dedicated to Jackie

Well I've had a fabulous day so far, I've had a wonderful walk in the sunshine and it certainly felt like spring out there. I've seen and photographed some lovely spring flowers and I've written a hub!

All in all that's pretty much a perfect day to me!

So a big thank you to Jackie for her hub and the inspiration - this hub is dedicated to you!

You have inspired me! I've been wanting to get some of our daffodils photographed, but haven't taken the time. We have a pair of tiny woodpeckers building a home in the remains of a dead tree, but again, I haven't taken the time to go out and wait for them to get used to me so I could snap their pictures. Thanks for sharing your walk, and for giving me a nudge to take mine. :)

I would have to vote for the mossy fungus on the log if I had to choose a favorite, but they are all gorgeous photos.

SJmorningsun25 4 years ago

Wonderful photos, MM! I am so jealous that you have actual flowers already. We woke up to an inch of snow this morning--nothing's budding yet. Sigh. I'll have to come back for a touch of spring now and then until Chicago starts to look a little greener! Voted up, beautiful, and awesome.

Just awakening from a nap, peering here at HB, I was treated to a wonderful walk, indeed. Though reading others before I stopped by to say, "I do like purple." The sunrise is magnificent. I wish I were there, yet I was. Thank you for sharing and inspiring.

MM, This hub is just gorgeous; this far north-east, we don't have any buds yet but hopefully it won't be long. The branch with the fungus is amazing and you're right they look like lots of skirts during an energetic can-can. Voted up, beautiful.

This brings much hope to those of us who have been cabin bound or without much sun this winter. I always get excited when I see the first crocus or spring robin. Your photos are beautiful with quite vivid colors that you can almost smell them. The snowdrops as simple flowers that make a pretty statement against the brown suroundings. Great hub topic and you captured the beauty of the neighborhood.

Wow these are so good...I have some purple crocus pictures like yours but they are growing wild in the woods and are not more than 3 in a bunch, nothing as good as yours. I too got the low growing blooms because the others froze, but the good news is that after the ugly frozen ones drop off there are new buds ready to open. I do wish I could come across some algae like yours. Toad stools on logs is as close as I have come. I got a couple of unexpected shots I don't mind sharing with you if you want to see them. As always, enjoy your photography as no other.

Thanks so much for the honorable mention!

I should have been working (I work from home) but after reading your hub I couldn't resist going out with my camera, it was a beautiful sunny day, I had a wonderful time so thank you for the inspiration!

I'm glad that spring is coming. In North Central Iowa there is no snow on the ground. We haven't had much snow this winter. There is little patches of snow here and there, but not much. Not much ice, either. I don't like the ice. Its been cold, and it rained a few days ago. There has been tornados in the lower states. There was thunder here where I am a few mornings ago. The weather is kind of strange sometimes. Flowers are beautiful, and so are the trees that blossom with the pretty flowers.

I really enjoyed your beautiful flowers. Thanks for getting down on your hands and knees to get these different angles...which only a true photographer would do. It is March 7th today and our Houston, Texas yard and garden is ablaze with color from the azaleas, Indian Hawthorne shrubs, impatiens, begonias, snapdragons, allysum, camellias, ajuga, roses and our redbud tree is starting to flower. The colorful ginger plants and crotons just add to the colors. Undoubtedly I am missing some. It is a beautiful time of year here.
