Singer Hallie Day: American Idol 11 (2012) Spoilers and Predictions

Singer Hallie Day is a contestant on the 11th season of American Idol. According to TheIdolPad, Hallie has made the Top 24, which is the first live singing round for America's votes. If this spoiler is true, Hallie is likely cannon fodder and will have trouble proceeding to the Top 12.

Day auditioned in Pittsburgh, PA. In fact, she closed the show as the last auditioner for that episode. Most of Hallie's segment was a meandering backstory about quitting school and heading to New York to start a music career. She was in a band, but that didn't work out. She then got into drugs but finally met a man and got married. Hopefully, Hallie is completely through with the drugs now, which is far more important than winning American Idol.

I'm not sure what the purpose of the backstory was, but if it was to create sympathy, I don't see that working. Big deal, I say. No one is entitled to a music career, especially as a dropout teenager. And getting on drugs is her problem, not anybody else's. I don't see that getting her a fanbase, so she will have to rely on her talent to make it to the Top 12.

In terms of talent, I don't see much there at all. She gave a decent performance at her Pittsburgh audition, but it was nothing special. Phillip Phillips went last at Savannah for his talent, not some backstory. Even if backstories do work in general, I don't see this one going very far. She already has a loving husband, so the happy ending is really already there.

I predict that Hallie Day is likely cannon fodder. She is there to make it easier for the favorites to get to the Top 12. In other words, she is filler. I don't think this contestant has any chance of winning American Idol 11.
