JOVIT BALDIVINO- Rise to Stardom

JOVIT Baldivino- the 16-year old siomai vendor and junior high school student of Padre V. Garcia National High School, Padre Garcia, Batangas bagged 2 million-peso cash as prize for winning ABS-CBN show “Pilipinas Got Talent” first grand champion held at the Araneta Coliseum and aired live over ABS-CBN Channel 2 on the eve of June 13, 2010 Sunday. The PGT judges found in him all the ingredients of a champion: gifted and talented, unique voice and a charismatic personality. His parents, relatives, fans and people of Batangas were too happy to have their prayers answered. .

Velasco Brothers and Baguio Metamorphosis each got P100,000. All the rest brought home P50,000 each.

Jovit sang Queen’s “Too Much Love Will Kill you” during the grand champion contest. The song was recorded sometime in 1988 or before and written by Brian May, Frank Musker and Elizabeth Lamers. Jovit got an outstanding ovation during the May 1, 2010 PGT semi-finals after his rendition of EUROPE’s “Carrie”. He performed Journey’s Faithfully during the Batangas audition last February 27 episode in PGT. ABS-CBN News.Com reported that Jovit’s audition video was uploaded to You Tube and that it has been viewed more than 100,000 times.

As published in ABS-CBN News.com, the following is the result of the 12 grand finalists with their corresponding rating of votes in percent: (1) Jovit- 48.81% (2) and (3) Velasco Brothers / Baguio Metamorphosis- 15.39%, 7. 27%, (4) Ingrid- 5.87%, (5) Ezra Band- 5.46%, (6) Ruther- 4.45%, (7) Alakim- 4.94%, (8) Keith- 2.32%, (9) Sherwin- 2.15%, (10) Luntayao-2.07%, (11) Jeline- 2.07%, (12) Markki Stroem- 1.20%

Jovit – the proud winner- thanked the Batanguenos, his relatives, his family his fans’ club as well as The Filipino Channel subscribers for their solid support. One of the Pilipinas Got Talent Judge Kris Aquino assured Jovit Baldivino that he can now choose which ABS-CBN show he likes. Asked to choose which of the 3- soap opera, alongside Sarah Geronimo, ASAP XV or Wowowee , Jovit replied, “All”.

The Velasco Brothers of Cainta, Rizal stunned the judges with their world-class acrobatic breakdance. PGT Judge Ai-Ai de las Alas said if she were the lone judge- Velasco brothers would be the grand champion. Impressed by their sterling performance- another judge Cris Aquino invited the group to render a dance during Noynoy Aquino’s inaugural celebration as president come June 30. Male and female dancers composed the Baguio Metamorphosis. They rendered a combination of hip-hop and cultural dance. Judge Freddie M. Garcia labeled the group performance as fantastic.

Great hub kabayan. Jovit really did a great performance during the grand finals. Though my bet where the velasco brothers, but still I was so impressed by the performance of Jovit singing some of my favorite songs especially Journey's songs. Keep up!
