Sony, IMAX, and Discovery announce the partnership 3net Studios. The joint venture will produce and distribute content for the All-3D television channel 3net. The announcement establishes the channel as a long-term venture, which includes an Adrenaline & Adventure program group that focuses on sports.

3net Studios

The October 16 announcement comes more than a year after the launch of the channel in February of last year. The global production and distribution team will have two facilities, according to the 3net press release posted on Engadget. The company will have facilities in Silver Spring, Maryland and Los Angeles, California. The announcement comes from the company President and CEO Tom Cosgrove.

3D Television Channel

The channel offers various 3D and 2D HD formats for its programs and runs 24 hour a day, seven days a week. The television network is the first of its kind, according to the press release. The content is available on DIRECTV channel 107.

If you want more sports on TV, there is the Adrenaline & Adventure group of programs at 3net. One show, Live Fire, follows the daily lives of recruits to soldiers. Professional surfer Kelly Slater rides the waves in 3D style in the series The Ultimate Wave Tahiti. There are many sports series and specials featuring the high-end technology.

Impact for 3net Viewers

The announcement sends global television viewers the message that the channel is not going anywhere. The plan to build two facilities indicates the partnership is going well and further establishes the company. If you already subscribe to the channel, there is good news. You do not need to worry that the sports shows will end anytime soon.

If you have yet to watch the 3D network, you can easily subscribe to the channel through your local provider. The announcement offers you confirmation that the channel is likely to continue for a while. You can check out the great graphics and adventures in the sports programs.

Sony, IMAX, and Discovery join for 3net Studios with plans to create two studios to produce 3D television programs. The channel offers sports shows using top technology for a great viewing performance.

Thanks everyone for the great comments! I think the 3D trend is a neat one and it makes sense following the popularity of the TVs to have an all 3D channel. Imagine it 24 hours a day - wow! Appreciate the votes and shares :)

I can see what many men are going to want under the Christmas tree this year. Just when you think the latest is out, they update. I don't think this is something that will be around our home for quite awhile. Good information to know.

Great news. Here we have 3D channel called Sky 3D that shows sport, nature documentaries and 3D movies. The BBC also broadcast the wimbledon finals and the finale of UK version of Dancing with stars on 3D. It is really cool in the living room watching a 3D movie although we all look weird sitting there with the glasses on!

I also didn't know there was a 3D channel, but need to ask Kevin, because if anyone would have known this it would have been him. That said thank you for sharing and have of course voted and shared all over!!

Christy, I didn't know there was a 3D channel on television. I live in the Dark Ages without tv! Fascinating that there is one, and your hub was quite interesting. Maybe some day I'll be invited over to someone's house and I'll be able to see it for myself.
