Summertime is Movie Time!

Mmmmm POPCORN!

OK I admit it, I'm a mega movie junkie and I'm proud of it! I grew up going to the movies every weekend. On Friday nights My Mom and my brother and I would meet my Dad at the train station and go to our fav family diner and then go to see a movie! Then on Saturday I would go to our local movie theater and get to see not one but 2 movies!!! Ahh those were the days of Matinee's! To me it was thrilling, the whole theater experience, the smell of popcorn as you walked in, the concession stand all lit up emanating funky bright colors!,walking into a semi darkened room & trying to get the best seat and then the lights would go down and it was that magic moment!

Yes a movie junkie was born and I'm still a die hard! When VCR's came into the picture I was thrilled, I could actually see my favorite movies at home! Going to the Video store evoked the same type of thrill that going to the movie theater did! And I have to tell you that if I had serious Mula I would be designing my own theater in my home equipped with the red velvet seats and my own little concession stand but alas fate hasn't those plans for me so I sit and dream about it...occasionally. Nevertheless I am a child of the 60's and when there wasn't trips to the movie theater there was my best friend in the whole world...TELEVISION!!! It was the next best thing to going to the movies and again till this day that is what I love to do...sit and watch a good movie on TV! There's never an off season for me when it comes to that but I will say that Summertime reminds me of Saturday afternoon trips to the theater and boy that makes me smile!

My favs of all time!

I don't have a specific favorite genre however I am partial to a good thriller or horror movie! I also love drama and love stories! here are a few of my all time favorites I truly recommend!

Young Frankenstein-Comedy 1974- Mel Brooks

With a cast like Gene Wilder, Marty Feldman & Peter Boyle as the Monster you can imagine how incredibly funny this movie truly is! It actually has become a cult classic with fans knowing the movie quotes by heart! If your into the classic horror movies and love comedies this is a special one to see!

Igor meets Dr. Frankenstein

The Note Book -2004 directed by Nick Cassavetes

Starring: Gena Rowlands, Starletta Dupois, James Graner

I cant say enough about this movie! it is a powerful love story! I have seen it at least 4 times and each and every time it has stirred up so many emotions! it's not what I would classify as a "Chick Flick" , This movie is truly intense and has so much to offer. It's poignant, powerful and what true love should really be like! If you've ever been hit by Cupid's arrow for real ( and who hasn't) you've got to see this movie!

Salems lot-1975

Directed By: Tobe Hooper

Starring: David Sole, James Mason

Out of all the vampire movies throughout the years Salems lot was the one that still gives me goosebumps and the one I cant watch alone with the lights out! This little bedtime story is written by one of the Master's of Thriller & Horror Novels-Stephen King! He once again sets us in a sleepy little town where the most exciting thing that usually happens is a new flavor at the Ice cream parlor and keeping to his usual style of creeps throws in total horror and havoc! This is not one of those slasher all gory blood and guts movie this has actual substance which makes for an even scarier scare! Get all those munchies ready & that special someone to watch it with. This one will make you jump!

Dogma-1999 Directed by Kevin Smith

Starring: George Carlin, Ben Affleck, Matt Damon

When I first saw this movie I was blown away! It is truly hilarious and it shows us much about Human Nature and how we internalize religion. What if the celestial side of things and the Angels were a lot like us? Like Ben Affleck and Matt Damon for instance and the profits were like Jay and silent Bob? This movie doesn't only make you cry with laughter it teaches us as well! Get ready to start giggling...a lot!

There's just too many to mention!

Ive listed here a few of my favorite movies but my list is way too long to post ! If you haven't watched any of the movies mentioned I suggest you give them a try but all in all remember Summertime is Movie time and what a great way to spend an evening with your Family or that special someone! Laugh, Cry, get inspired! there's something for everyone! I'm sure you have your favorites too! If you haven't got them in your personal Library then there are so many places you can get them now a days, Amazon is a good place to start! Feel free to suggest your favs in my comments! Have Fun!!!!

As a movie buff myself, I have to say that this is a great collective review! I love watching movies, usually on Netflix, and sometimes I write reviews after I watch them.

Out of the collection above, I think that "The Notebook" was the best movie. There are so many great movies out there and you took a group of them and made a great Hub! Voted Up and Useful!

Thanks Dexter! Have so many more to put up. Salems lot is still scary to me. I know it's a little cheesey with make up but hey I can let that slide...lol
