Woman of the Year - 2011

Taylor Swift has had a fast moving career punctuated with a tumultuous love life. This super star has been on the rise since she endeared herself to everyone in the world in 2006. Swift, born Taylor Alison Swift in Reading, Pennsylvania on December 13, 1989 has rocked the nation with her intoxicating beauty, unending talent and unspoiled character. She glorified the cover of Billboard Magazine recently and has been named, "Woman of the Year - 2011".

'Speak Now' was one of the hottest concert tours last year and that comes as no surprise to her fans. Swift has been performing since the age of 10. At her current 22 years, that is more than half her young life. She began singing and performing in her home town at festivals and local events. Her big break came when she sang at the Blue Bird Cafe and was discovered by Scott Borchetta who signed the 14 year old with Big Machine Records.

Swift's first album, which was self titled, went platinum. While her beauty may draw the fans in - her voice, talent and charisma keep them hypnotized. She is very well known for keeping in touch with her fans via MySpace and Facebook. According to Forbes, Swift is ranked number 69 on the list of the most powerful celebrities, proof that she is adored by all.

Kanye West will forever be known as the rapper who ripped the microphone away from Swift during her acceptance speech for the best female video award and announced that Beyonce should have won the award. Bad move, West! Pink appeared to give him a hostile glare as she passed later during the ceremony. He apologized on the Jay Leno show but when Swift was interviewed on The View, she told the ladies he had never tried to reach out to apologize to her. That moment will possibly be the very one moment in his life that he is best remembered for.

Swift is very well known for name dropping in her music. She doesn't apologize for this and explains that is how she writes. Swift has talked about how she went through periods in high school that she didn't feel as if she fit in. She felt more comfortable in the business and music industry than in a class room with her peers.

Taylor Swift has been linked with the hottest of all film and music stars such as Taylor Lautner, Jake Gyllenhaal, Joe Jonas, John Mayer and has most lately been associating frequently with Will Anderson from Parachute. Rumor has it that they are just friends though they have been reported to be seen together a few days each week.

Taylor Swift has broken records and set records in music history. She has been nominated for dozens of awards and has won many of them. Swift was the youngest star to ever win the prestigious Grammy for Album of the year in 2008. She was named Entertainer of the Year in 2011.

In addition to her career in music, Swift has sideswiped Hollywood like a cyclone and has shot straight to the top of the charts. Swift has been offered a role in the longest running musical since 1985 when Les Miserables opened in London. Swift trumped several Hollywood stars for the role such as Lea Michelle and Scarlette Johansson. If she chooses to accept this misson she will star opposite of favorite celebs such as Hugh Jackman, Russel Crowe and Anne Hathaway. Filming is set to being in March. Swift will also surely turn "The Lorax" into a hit starring as Audrey in the animated film that will also be released in March.

Swift came to St. Louis and my youngest daughter begged me to get tickets. The tickets to her concerts sell out in approximately 2 minutes. I resorted to the usual means and bought tickets through Stub Hub. I paid a lot more than the face value of the ticket but I did purchase 2nd row seats and this concert was well worth the price. My daughter stood next to the railing, watching her favorite female super star singer and I know that it is more than she could have dreamed it would be.

As a parent, I think Taylor Swift is one of those lovely young women that can handle super stardom without the danger of rehab. Taylor Swift is America's Sweetheart and she is here to stay!

Don't miss the 2012 Grammy Award Show live on CBS 2/12/2012! What will Taylor win this year?

Thanks for the picture from this American Sweetheart RHW,

Taylor inspires sweetness and tenderness, which makes us feel good as parents. I can relate to your feeling Kelly. On August 20, 2010, I was just like your daughter, but this time was my band for 25 years: Yeah! Tears for fears. Things like these are unforegttable and keep us going, with a smile...Thanks my friend!

Hi Lord! I do agree - she is so sweet and composed. I do think she is a fantastic role model. I have always been an avid concert goer - I love seeing and hearing my favs live. I love Tears for Fears too!

Concerts are unforgettable and my girls have found they love it too and I don't mind going with them - I have enjoyed several they dragged me to. You have to take ear plugs though - little girl crowds have such high pitched screaming!

Thank you so much Lord:)

Looks Yummy. We haven't seen her here yet, or, rather I haven't. We are still trying to get over Gaga!

Superb photos!!! Her concerts are awesome (as lons as she keeps the ballads to a minimum, her catchy songs are best). I remember when Kanye interrupted her, I was pissed but the jokes about it got old...she got more popular winning mega awards and it was at that time that I wanted Kanye to interrupt me!!! We all did!!! LOL

I do love T-Swizzle's pop/country tunes! :)

Hi Bob! She is gorgeous! Hey still single too! Lol. I bet a lot of guys are gaga over Lady Gaga! Haha! I bet you will see more of her. She is very popular with kids but as she grows up her music will have to change a little so ill be interested to see if she hangs in there. Thanks a lot!

What I appreciate about her is that she is herself. Unlike singers who have come before her she really never seemed to use the good girl image as a cover, she's just someone who's true to herself. I think it's also easier since she's in country and it's more about the music than the image as opposed to pop music. Great hub, voted up!

Sunshine - I knew you would love this beautiful girl:). I have to say I kind of feel sorry for West because it was a super dumb move. Not the first time he has needed to take some Pepto for his diarrhea mouth! Lol. She has won an amazing number of awards...and totally why I nixed mentioning them all! Yikes!

My girls loved this concert....that is Maddy in the picture! Lol. She got to see her up close and personal:) nothing beats that when your 10!

Hi Alecia - I think you said that perfectly! Thank you! Yes - she really is true to herself...in her music and her personality. And there aren't very many stars around that I guess I think are good role models for little kids. I won't name names, bur I took them to another female pop star's concert a few months ago and she was cursing on stage through out the concert. While I realize this can happen - this star appeals to kids and plays to that audience. It was in very poor taste. I think her concert could have been fabulous without the curse words....thanks to her for trying to look so cool to impress my kids:) NOT! Lol. I asked my girls if they thought Taylor was going to curse before her concert and they both said "oh! She would NEVER do that!" lol. That is what I like to hear! Lol

Thanks so much for the great comment!

I just read you last comment and we have a singer called Adele, of whom you may have heard. She has a foul mouth, totally obssessed with herself, little talent and is soooo popular with the kids here Bob

RealHousewife profile image

RealHousewife 4 years ago from St. Louis, MO Author

Bob - I have heard of her! I didn't realize she was a cusser! lol Thanks so much because I do not want to take my kids to another concert like that. I liked Taylor because she made the show dynamite and still kept it P.G.! I think it is a shame when they do that...if they are catering to an adult audience - Im down with it! But if they are appealing and catering to younngsters - they shouldn't need to do that! Thanks for the tip - if she did come here I bet my kids would ask to see that concert and I will probably save my money on that one:) lol

I LOVE LOVE LOVE TAYLOR SWIFT!!! I am a huge fan of pretty much all of her songs! I also enjoy her music videos. I would love to see her in concert! I am pretty young at heart. I usually love what the kids love :-) lol. I love her songs so much I don't even know which one would be a favorite if I had to pick. Although currently I'm pretty obsessed with Mean. I also love her style. When I saw you had wrote something about her I couldn't resist reading it RIGHT AWAY!!! Great overview and very interesting! AWESOME! lol.

Hi Myth! Thank you so much!! I love her too:). And I'm glad my girls look up to her...she's the perfect role model for our girls. I think she's just an amazing and brilliant shining star...I think her popularity proves that she is loved by everyone. I like her style too! Lol. I think she shows us how she works her negative feelings put in positive ways with her song writing and music. Thank goodness her parents saw all that she could be and supported her!

I love, love love YOU Myth:). And I know you are a shining star too!!

Taylor Swift is a lovely, talented young woman and deserves all the nice things you wrote about her, Kelly. Beautiful hub. By all means, forward this article to her and perhaps at her next concert you and your daughter will be sitting in comped first row seats.

Hi Drbj! That my friend is a great idea and I'm going to try it! You never know! I have had people contact me after writing a hub that they found!

Votes up Realhousewife. This was a great article. I admire her for never giving up when she first came in the business. She is actually an inspiration to me cause I share the same dream as a lyricist. She went to Nashville and did what she had to and it all worked out great. Such a wonderful story. Well done.

LOL Taylor Swift. like some of her stuff, though I'm not a huge country fan. A song of her's I do not k

like is "Fifteen" but I guess I'm just indifferent to her overall. Great Hub, Voted Up, and Everything Else :)

Thanks everyone! I really appreciate all the awesome comments!

Ardie - I have a Nikon! Woo Woo! It works great. I have gotten lucky several times with it now..but it never hurts to purchase tickets in the front rows:) lol Thank you so much!!

Sunshine - that is one hot link, huh?!

Susan - thanks! I was wondering if she was popular there - and she is touring the entire world now so I was guessing! She is pretty irrisistable:)

Thelyricwriter! Thank you so much - that is so interesting and I hope it works out! Then I will interview you and we can talk about "way back when you were a hubber" LOL

Carl - hey thank you so much - I am NOT a huge country music fan, I love all music pretty much but I don't have much choice in some if I want to make the kids happy in the car...her music can play all day on my radio:) LOL

I do love that song Fifteen too! Thanks for the great comment!

What a fabulous Hub! I sure hope Ms. Swift will see this. I am not a country music fan, but I have heard her songs. I think what is most impressive about her is the fact that she doesn't resort to turning herself into a hoochie mama to promote herself. She is a true lady, one of the few fabulous role models left in this world, and just a real beauty. Well done. Voting WAAAAYYYYY up!

RealHousewife profile image

RealHousewife 4 years ago from St. Louis, MO Author

Hi Tammy - thank you so much! You are too kind! I am really glad my daughters look up to her for that very reason! I don't want my girls dressing like hoochie mama's either! LOL It is ok for everyone else! haha! Mom's old double standard.

I really enjoy writing the articles about concerts I have gone to! So much fun and you know I am just one big kid:)

A wonderful portrait of Taylor Swift. My 12-year-old daughter went to one of her concerts last summer and it was definitely a highlight of the year. She seems to be one of the few celebrities that we parents can wholeheartedly endorse ... at least so far. Hope she stays that way!

RealHousewife profile image

RealHousewife 4 years ago from St. Louis, MO Author

Hi Brianlokker - Thank you so very much! I have had to go to several concerts with my young girls and I tell you - this was the best! By far! lol

I do think this girl is super intelligent and sees the big picture...I do not forsee a Lindsay Lohan with this young lady! I hope we are both right.

Thank you so much for your wonderful comment!

Taylor Swift is quite talented. I've seen her on the late shows and thought she was excellent.

I do love Lady Gaga, she really belts out the tunes and she is very talented underneath the show.

So, drbj, if we write hubs about our favorite (Dwayne Johnson), will he send us first row tickets? I know you've already met him, but I need to.

RealHousewife profile image

Hey Austin! I was just thinking about you and boom! There you are! haha...I am writing up a little something you will like:) lol

I do like Taylor...she is so well spoken and almost timid...it makes her more endearing.

OoooOOOoooohhhh wouldn't you love to meet him!

Taylor Swift really is one of the few good role models out there in the entertainment business. She seems like nothing but pure. I think that is what I like about here the most. Not to mention she is hella talented. Such a great tribute to this lovely young lady!

Hi BBG! That is a great word for her - pure:) lol She really does seem that way. She is for sure, a rock star you do not mind having your daughters "wanna be" like! I know with your 2 beautiful daughters - you know what I mean!
