My Ten Best Songs of All Time

You may not find your song here

Choosing only 10 songs is like looking for the proverbial needle in the haystack. There are 100s of songs that would fit this description and naturally they won't all be same in each one's list. While compiling this list, I have deliberately left out the intellectual contents of a song. It is only the musical merit that was taken into account.

Another thing that must strike the readers as odd is that all these songs are from the 60s and 70s. May be I am biased but music-wise, 70s were the golden period. That is when music was music. There were any number of nice songs in the 50s and the 80s too. I have listed only the songs I liked best. Most of my friends thought the compilation is juvenile but justifiable. What do you think?

I have not tagged any explanation for liking these songs. Suffice it to say that I forget myself when I listen to them and that is reason enough for them to find a place in this list.

1. Nights in White SatinĀ  - Moody Blues

2. Whiter Shade of Pale - Procol Harum

3. Boxer - Simon and Garfunkel

4. Imagine - John Lennon

5. No satisfaction - The Rolling Stones

6. Wonderful tonight - Eric Clapton

7. Proud Mary - Credence Clearwater Revival

8. Annie's Song - John Denver

9. Knock Three times - Dawn

10. Yellow River - Christie

Thanks

I have to agree with most of your song choices. I would probably add some great Motown songs like "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" as well as some Beatles tunes. Nice Hub.

Pretty good songs. I used to absolutely be in love with "Nights in White Satin"... So passionate! I have been thinking more about this question of favorite songs as more shows have been appearing about a capella because it encourages me to think about what I like about the song - the instruments or the message?

I love the Moody Blues, and Nights in White Satin still sends a little chill down my back, even after all these years. I enjoy every single song on your list!!!! I may have to do a songs list myself.

Thanks for sharing!

This is a cool hub!

Knights in White Satin was one of my favorites! And still moves me with nostalgia!

You said were they juvenile songs? NO WAY! That era rocked totally and with much more passion and honesty than most of today's modern music.
